By trying to sign him to a Max 4yr deal

The denial is so real and strong in this thread

How are we doing Chicago a favor if we signed Butler to a Max Deal? The only reason Chicago can be so confident is that they know the cap is going to explode with the new TV deal.

Because Chicago easily matches

And let's them off the hook on 5yrs of guaranteed salary

Gladly swapping it for 4, and the T.V. Deal isn't news

That just arrived at today's doorstep

Did you use this reason rationale when thinking

If we had a legit shot to snatch him away

Not to mention trying to soften the blow mentioning this

Is comical, it was one of the main reasons

Our very own Phil used to sign greaseball provolone face

"To that ridiculous contract" so to each his own as the saying goes.

With every post you make i'm increasingly more convinced that you are an ASS. I don't believe you when you say that you're a Knicks fan. You don't post like a Knicks fan. You post much more like a typical TROLL. Post after post you piss on anything having to do with the team and anyone who mentions any chance we have for something positive happening. Who does that except for a TROLL.

All any team trying to get a RFA has is a chance as there's no guarantee that a RFA's team won't match. Stop trying to act like all of us who have been following the NBA for decades are too stupid to understand how things work. Most of us are old enough to know just how it all works.

No matter how much you'd enjoy seeing this team strike out completely, there remains the fact that this team has some positive options for building a better future. As a "fan" I would expect that you'd spend even just a little bit of your time actually trying to identify how this team can successfully rebuild, but you don't do that. TROLL.

I've said it before: give up on the dream of signing the top tier free agents, and focus on 3 nice 2nd tier players- we can have a starting five that consists of two way players who are actually deserving starters.

Logical reasoning here although someone else has

A high fever and needs an ice pack

I'm hoping for maybe pull off a trade for Thaddeus-D. Lee and

Knight-Amir-Marshall-Middleton-McDaniels-Wroten type signings

"like I said"...............

As if the odds of a restricted top tier player not leaving is some form of prophetic insight.
Usually this is how it goes.

F500 will tell you how it is, after it is, but he won't risk his neck making a prediction. But he'll ridicule others.
It takes a big man to admit he is wrong.
What kind of man says otherwise?

I don't know how you max out a guy that hasn't performed in the playoffs..They have no clue how this guy will stand up when the game matters..

A lot of teams do it. Playoffs are just a small sample of games especially for a young player. Parsons, Haywood, and Thompson all got max like deals without great playoff performances so why not Butler?

They would be stupid not to resign Butler.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Not that I really care, but why is offering him a max deal only for the Bulls to match a good strategy? All it does is keep you cap money tied up, missing out on other players and give the Bulls a cheaper contract to work with.

Melo isn't afraid of the moment...Melo has always been the best on his teams and is gets doubled in the playoffs, thus his percentages are lower...We have seen it for 3 years here..

yeah his percentages suck because he keeps shooting it even though he is quadruple teamed.

He certainly is not afraid to shoot.

He does seem afraid to pass though.

he's a two-way player, son

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

melo is an overpaid 3rd option who is not even a two-way player let alone a complete player let alone a franchise talent... and he's a self-absorbed oblivious a-hole on top of all his failings as a player. you are defending and justifying and rationalizing an overpaid, overrated douchebag.

not a good look.

i am not persuaded you understand the nature of this sport.
