At this point we have 3 PGs and Galloway, a combo guard, who the Knicks want to play PG at some point.

Prigioni and Calderon are "bridge" PGs at best, who might not be on the team at this point if we could get something for them.

Still not sure how Phil and Fisher feel about Larkin, and whether Larkin would want to remain on the Knicks if he has a decent run the rest of the year.

Jackson likes PGs who have some range on their shot, and people are saying Wolters lacks this. I definitely don't know what Phil/Fisher think about Wolters. I have not seen enough of him to know whether he is someone we should take a chance on, although I know there are guys around here who like him.

My guess is that Phil passes on Wolters, but I would sign him to a 10 day contract (If we can) and give him some extended time on the floor to see what he has. Cut down the minutes Calderon and Prigioni get and try to see what the younger players can do. Have a rotation where Galloway, Larkin, and Wolters are, on a rotational basis, guaranteed one 30 minute game every 3 games. If there is another PG or SG out there I would do the same thing if we did not take Wolters.

We should be playing like we are in an extended exhibition season.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Sorry, we are still currently over, but not by much, it is right under 77m

We are currently at a little over 80m, however, if you look carefully, Moultrie's contract is on the payroll, which we traded already
Along with soem of the salaries of

Payroll according to HoopsHype $80,414,012

Moultrie 1.136m

Lou Amundson 555k
Lance Thomas 401k
Alex Kirk 214k
Galloway 295k

Cap holds are only for contracts up to 12 roster spots, so we are really close, depending on the contracts of the players we just released, if it is partial guaranteed or non guaranteed
So basically, we just need to move 1 more contract of a total of about 1-2m if those contracts that we just traded for that were waived and are non guaranteed
However, I just read yesterday in a article that the trade exemptions are counted against the salary cap as well, so I am not really sure anymore...
Not sure if it is in effect right now or for this summer, and it also depends if the team is over the salary cap or under the salary, making it pretty confusing...

It would be a shame if we kept 37 year old Prigs who we only owe 200k to next year rather than taking a shot at Wolters. Hey its up to them. It would be nice to have a tall PG who can play. Wouldnt take a an NBA guy with 20 years experience to figure out who has more talent between Prigs and Wolters. heck IF Langston even came close to Nate's # Id be shocked. Other than long range shooting--Nate's a better player from the 1 guard. Good defense too.

The Knicks already have three backup pg...

You sign him to replace someone like Prigioni, who should be easy to deal to a playoff team looking for some more veteran depth at PG.

I have no recollection of this Moultrie character- I've just been assuming it's a glitch on hoopshype- who the heck is he?!

One of the players we got back in the Tyson Chandler trade was Travis Outlaw. When Phil Jackson wanted to sign Travis Wear he needed to open up a roster spot so he traded Travis Outlaw, the rights to swap our 2018 2nd round pick, and our 2019 2nd round pick to Philly for Arnett Moultrie. We then waived Moultrie and signed Wear.

The Knicks have been looking to unload Wayne Ellington for a little while, they have finally found a partner across the country.

And the Knicks got one of the NBA’s best beards in the process.

New York has agreed to send Wayne Ellington, Jeremy Tyler and they will take the restrictions off a second round pick already sent to Sacramento for Travis Outlaw and Quincy Acy,

Mind is still here.

BRIGGS wrote:Nate had a really good rookie year. He simply was odd man out 4th PG in a league where most teams have 2 or 3. They actually moved him to SG this year and the one thing he's not that great at his shooting the long ball. But if you look at his rookie numbers his 3.2 to 1 TO ratio 44% shooting an his pretty good D--he certainly is a player who in the right circumstance is a nice 2nd or third piece with upside. Most rosters are stacked--there are 25-27+ teams still looking for the playoffs. I have to wonder if Nate makes it through waivers.

Will the kNicks pick him up if he does? Im not sure we should but we have 3 PGs as well. I think they want to give Halloway? a solid chance with minutes--so it would have to be a case where we were trading Calderon. I don't necessarily think hes a prime triangle guy albeit he is nearly 6-5 and has good shake passing handling abilities and gets into the lane

The Bucks backcourt situation is messy, with five players trying to get minutes. The Buck are doing him a favor by waiving him. I still think he can be a solid contributor to a team.

Here's a piece on Wolters defense. I think one thing to remember is hes really big--he measured just under 6-5. So most PGs have to shoot well over him--and thus--well you can read his effectiveness on D when he is on the floor.

I'd be all for giving him a shot here.

Nothing to lose, and a great opportunity for someone like him to come in and get extended time.

Its like the rest of our season is one long play of garbage time.

Well duh he had to of come from somewhere

It's not like he showed up off the street at MSG's door

To insert "I thought he came from" was like wait how did

We get Outlaw again, we we're talking about Outlaw's exit

And connection to Moutrie not Outlaw's arrival

But Phil has made so many Beginner's level crappy video game trades

Just looking back at college

Nate shot with high usage from 3 pt land(462 3 pt shots attempted in 4 years)

38% as a senior
41% as a sophomore
36% as a freshmen

He did have a bad junior year from deep 25%

Also he graduated when he was 21 and hes only 23.

His rookie year splits also give you some hope. He shot 18% from three pre-All Star break and 46 % post.
