You like anything and everything if it's a Knick

He is 3 inches taller than AI....Who was one of the greatest SGs to wear a Philly jersey.
Barkley is a 6'4 PF, and one of the greatest PFs to play the game.

Height is never the issue with basketball....There are 7fters that play smaller than PGs and vice versa.
Plus it's not the height thats important, but the reach. He makes up for his height with his long arms.

Also, PGs and SGs don't exist anyway....thats old school.....It's just Guards and Forwards. And he was a solid guard in the D league that plays both sides of the court, with a solid 3 pt shot, and high IQ. Something we haven't had since Charlie Ward. He's a Phil Jackson type of PG, that fits the triangle system.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

I hope u r correct, I am all for giving him a chance.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

You guys are funny. I'm not saying he's a lock to succeed, just that he fits the description of Phil's typical PG's. OUR F'n COACH IS ONE OF THEM!!! Galloway seems very similar to Fish. Usually these guys aren't stars. They have very similar traits if you compare them. No one can say anything even remotely positive without you guys putting words in peoples mouths or making dumb as comments. He's a prospect and he has some good traits, but you F'n clowns aren't even willing to wait and see what a current Knicks prospect can do before you kick dirt on them. If I said he was a bum you guys would be happy. GTFOH already.

I been watching him in Westchester. He stands out to me as being a nba caliber player. How fat that goes is up to him. I wish him luck but he had a legit chance ofoproviding he belongs in the nba

Just because a guy appears to belong does not mean anything to me; if he can make it, I will be happy for him. For the Knicks, we need two-way players

He is a two way guy. He plays hard and has good drive and focus. I'm trying not to compare him to anyone but I think he is going to stick

Galloway is a Guard that just happens to be short only by head measurement. His wingspan is like that of a taller player.

                           Height Weight Wingspan
Emmanuel Mudiay - 2014 6' 5" 200 6' 8.5"
Iman Shumpert - 2009 6' 5.5" 211 6' 9"
Russell Westbrook - 2008 6' 3.5" 192 6' 7.75"
Tony Wroten - 2011 6' 6.5" 204 6' 8"
Langston Galloway - 2014 6' 2" 188 6' 8"

I think Phil has a type. Thanasis 6'6 with a 7'0 wingspan
Acy 6'6.5 with a 7'2.75 wingspan
Cole 6'9 with a 7'4.75 wingspan

I expect that Pippen, Ron Harper, and Rodman also had long wingspans.

Creates a spiderweb on the defensive end.

Those Riley Showtime Laker teams also had some good length/wingspans, if I remember correctly.

Then you look at McHale, DJ, and the Chief on the celtics- same thing.

Of course wingspan might be important, but those guys on those Bulls, Celtics, and Lakers teams also had respective talents that went well beyond their long arms.

It makes sense, but we have some clowns on this forum that think nothing this team does ever makes sense and nothing we will ever do with work. You know why Galloway won't ever do anything? Simply because he's a Knick. If he was on another team they'd be talking about why we don't sign him out of the D League and what's wrong with out scouts, but if he's already on the Knicks he's gotta be a bum.

Phil did play at a time when the distinction between a "PG" and a "SG" was less defined. Wonder if this has colored his way of looking at the guard position.

Galloway might indeed be a Jackson type PG... the problem for the Knicks is that Phil's best teams had Kobe and Jordan on them, and they are guys who averaged about 5 APG over their respective careers. Pippen also averaged about 5 APG with the Bulls.

You look at some of the Bulls championship teams and Pippen/Jordan led those teams in assists, sometimes dishing out about 13 APG between them. Their PGs were much more complimentary players, who didn't control the pace of the game.

Which non-PG players on the Knicks have had the kind of assist numbers that Jordan/Pippen had? Easier to be a "PG" if you have two other guys who are the assist men on your team do the job traditionally assigned to the PG.

With this said, I continue to think that Jackson and Fisher, envision Galloway as someone who can fit into the Triangle PG mold, but if you go by the teams Phil had in the past, eventually we would need that superior all around star who would become the "PG" of the team in every way except by name.

Anthony is not that player, unfortunately. James or Wade would be more like what Phil would want.

In a perfect world, If we knew we could get Mark Gasol, for instance, I could see Jackson looking to draft Mudiay, who would serve as our version of Kobe/Jordan. Not sure how ready he is to take on that kind of role, though, and Anthony's, and even Gasol's (will be 30 in a couple of days), respective windows of opportunity to win a title are becoming smaller each year- so we might not be able to wait while Mudiay developed.

A smart shooter and defender like Galloway would be a complimentary fit on a team with a Gasol, Anthony and Mudiay, assuming he shoots the way he has shown in the past and plays D like he has in the DL.

At this point I can see Galloway as a 20 MPG rotational combo guard. Tough to imagine him as a 30 MPG player at this time, much easier to envision him as a change of pace sniper and defender getting about 10-15 MPG.

Only time, and playing time, will tell. Hopefully Galloway gets a legitimate opportunity to show what he can do.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?
