MEH! It's possible but we really could see them go in a number of different directions. Maybe the max out Butler and go after Knight. There are so many scenarios.
We're not getting Jimmy Butler GOSH!
Unless Butler forgoes testing the Market the Knicks will get a chance to make an offer. You don't know what will happen after that. That's why you have to test it and see. I'm sure his agent will tell him to accept a big offer and test the Bulls resolve. An emerging star like Butler is worth spending on. I could see Phil going hard after him.
wow dude!
Can we talk about something else?
WE HAVE ZERO CHANCE HERE!!!
I know it's a long shot but you don't just give up and not try just because. If Phil offers Butler the Max which I think will be like $16.5 Mil, then the Bulls will be in a tough spot. They are already very close to capped out for 2015 and matching a max contract would surely put them way over. They stopped their offer to him last time at $11 mil. They probably could've gotten him to sign for $12.5 but they didn't. Now it's gonna cost them. Bulls are kinda cheap so this isn't as cut and dry as it might seem. The next year they'll have to worry about Noah's contract.
2015 Guaranteed Contracts:
Derrick Rose $20,093,064
Joakim Noah $13,400,000
Taj Gibson $8,500,000
Pau Gasol $7,448,760
Nikola Mirotic $5,543,725
Kirk Hinrich $2,870,000
Doug McDermott $2,380,440
Tony Snell $1,535,880
If you're going to go out on a limb this is the kind of player you should do it for.
