I hope and pray the Knicks end up with Okafor. I just think people have to put in perspective what kind of talent he has. IMO he's got Franchise talent and he's just a baby. He can and should get even better. You can run an offense around him. When he gets low in the post he isn't moved off the block. He holds off his man and can deliver a pass or take his man in the paint. He doesn't waste energy but rather uses power and finesse which is awesome to watch.

He's not gonna chase down shot blocks like Hakeem going after Starks but he still brings enough presence on the defensive end. It's crazy to look down on him cuz he isn't perfect.

@ 6'10/ 6'11 270 that translates to center into todays nba. Unless you can find a robin lopez type playet to put beside him. He's similar in size to Cousins.

He probably would play Center in this system

May come down to his ability to post deep and pass

We'll likely be playing with 2 post men anyway so his low post skills would be put to good use. Gotta surround him with lethal deep threats for it to all work. That and a fast PG who can break down a defense.

The recently maligned triangle offense would look ten timed better with a post player of his caliber. Working inside-out is the key to this double post offense. As you say, though, his ability to pass out of the post is a must.

Okafor looks every bit the #1 overall pick to me. This game with NC State he looks impressive.

Would anyone consider moving CA if we can end up with 2 TOP picks that would be (through more deals to move up in the draft if a team like Houston would take a risk on him in the summer)
I would also like to have back Terrence Jones, DMO, Beverely, Koustos Pap (ungaranteed contract), something like 2 1st rounders 4 2nd rounders

Both OK4 and Towns to rebuild around?

HELL YEAH. I'm sure to others this is not even debatable, but unfrotunately, it is close to impossible for it to happen.

Melo won't be traded so soon. It would have to happen during next season at the earliest. The team would have to struggle again in order to force that kind of change or if the worst happened the Knicks strike out this spring.

I would do it if we could.

Got to find a trade partner that feels Anthony will put them over the top, obviously- a team that needs offense and has enough defenders to cover up his deficiencies. I would think that his no trade clause will make it impossible to send him somewhere to play with an inferior team, unless the locale is one that has some sex appeal- like L.A.

If Anthony thinks his skills are declining to the point where the Knicks rebuild will take too long so he can help the franchise win a title, he might just be willing agree to a trade. Of course the pain of being traded will be eased by the extra $10 M he will get from us.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Platform is far and away the best player. He's good enough from the of position he will make lower level players better. He's not a 5. He's a 4

Seen this kid play and I don't think the 2 more inches of head height will affect him. He's so mobile and agile. He's just a really talented kid. At 19 he's already more advanced than most pros. He's only going to get better. Okafor has good quickness and powerful legs to hold his position in the paint. IMO he's not active enough defensively or on the boards. He has too much talent to play lazy. Still he's a stud even without the elite hops.

Its hard to project because sagging defense in college.
Dukies are tough to predict. Brand ended up about as good as advertised but Booze went int he second round and was far better.

Apples and oranges right? Kid has some Duncan in him.
If he is our we'll hail him the savior and pray he is not Anthony Bennett!!!!

Couldn't agree more with the part in bold.

Its why I'm always surprise when people make these bold assessments after one game...especially when the opponent is Wofford or Furman College.

He has reminded of me Duncan with some of his moves...would like to think that's his ceiling but not ready to make that kind of commitment yet.

Duke has a heck of schedule coming up...can't wait to see how he does against Virginia, ND and Louisville.

I have watched the kid play a couple of times; he is better then a lot of NBA bigs I have seen thus far. He is for sure a lowpost player, and need to develop his shooting range if he wishes to be effective in today's game. I don't know how smart he is as a kid, which means a lot more than talent if you ask me. Eddie Curry was not smart at all; as a result, his talent never truly shined. If he is a smart kid, barring injury, he will have a good future. The question is, if he were drafted, would the Knicks employ the right big man coach to instruct him? LA BROUGHT IN Lou Alcindor to coach their young big.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Big men just don't avergae those kind of numbers anymore. Not even Ewing, Hakeem and Drob averaged those numbers

I don't see him putting up Karl Malone numbers but if at his peak he gives you Cousin's 20 & 10, as a big in todays game, you take it and run.

His upside is Karl malone

karl malone. lets not get carried away here.

Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

This is the next 25+--10-4 PF Karl malone whatever u want to compare him to. I don't even know who could guard him in the NBA right this moment. As a 6-10 270 pound nimble PF with a 7-5 wingspan a touch that really is unparalled anywhere in the world for his age huge hands great instincts fundamentals footwork power agility. The guy has the whole package--no one is his size from the 4--hes going to dominate the low block from day 1. Whoever gets him is lucky. The draft becomes a real crap shoot after #1 goes--and every team knows it.

Obviously it would be nice to have him and he looks great for a 19 year old but my guess is that most starting centers in the NBA would look like Duncan in the NCAA. Many of the guys who never do post moves in the NBA can do them and hit at a high rate but they're just not quick enough at it and good enough at protecting the ball in the NBA.

Tyson - a guy with no back to the basket game in the NBA - could probably do this all day long against NCAA teams.

You're going to use a clip with Tyson against air to prove your point?
