1) Phil is hell bent on force feeding the triangle

2) he wont invest double digit millions in yearly salary on a pg

3) Reggie wants to have his own team and that cant happen with Carmelo on it.

It's just a suggestion of what could be done. He may instead spend more money at SG and Center. In the end he's going to be upgrading every position in the starting lineup. I think it makes sense to have a Guard like Reggie who can defend opposing PG's and at the same time be a threat himself. As for the Melo comment it's just silly to think he'd be put off by Melo being here. He'd also be joining a team that could have Okafor or some other top draft pick. I also mentioned a SG like Danny Green. It's about improving the overall talent in a logical way.

Alot things can be done, but over spending for role players is not the way to build....add your role players last.

I don't see us having enough cap space to sign Dragic and Millsap. We definitely won't be able to sign both of them and bring back Amare. We're going to have to waive Amare's Bird rights so that we actually have cap space; the cap hold for Amare's Bird rights will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $25M.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

We all have different opinions of the roster/team

but

This post was NOT meant to be used as a argue post with different opinions...
We have enough of those already

I was curious to see how posters here would construct a team, given our payroll, lack of talent/positions needed, and see we think we can actually attain and at what type of money/contract?...
I want to see who thinks we can attain what free agent at what price....
Only one that came close was Fitz....

There seems to be mixed feelings on how we can build this roster and compete
Personally, I think it will be next to impossible to build a actual contender but we could build a 6th seed team in the East

Hey Fitz, that is a decent team, though dependent on the development of the rookie Center

I am not sure if some players will consider NYK, unless we OVERPAY for their services....

I have a few questions though....
Not saying it cannot happen, as none of us are psychics, but at what salaries do you have for

At what salaries and type of contracts do you have us set for that roster

1- Millsasp

2- Dragic

3- Aldrich

4- Amare

5- Thanasis at what salary?

his rookie scale/contract would be under 500k but we can use salary cap space and lock him up to a 3 year team option deal, especially because he took less to develop in the D League
I am assuming Phil Jackson will pay him more than they have to, like most Europeans get for example Mirotic, Koustas Pap, Ilyasova when he came in the league....
If we are going to just pay him the minimum and he took less in order for develop in the D League, it would be pretty messed up
Also as a mid/late 2nd rounder, we would not be able to offer him a 3year deal unless we used cap space/part of an exception to do so in which he still must agree

I really like Thanasis too and I think we should look to find mentors for him and players that would be able to form a dynamic duo/trio defensively to match his intensity/energy and have a multiple effect.....
Would really like to pair him with players like Wesley Johnson/KJ McDaniels and Ed Davis, also long/athletic/young and defensive minded, especially with Wesley Johnson who could help mentor him because of their similiar traits

6- What is going on with JR Smith? He has a player option or do you think he will be traded?

7- Are we assuming we are going to just give up on Iman, Larkin, Pablo *also has a partial guaranteed contract*

8- Do you have us staying under the cap, using the Bi Annual Exemption? AKA LLE or going over the Cap somehow to get the Full MLE (worth about 6m)

you've lost your mind?
You are talking about underpaying the likes of Reggie jackson(3 years 2mill?????), Khawi Leanord, T-Rob, Brandon knight, and Corey Joseph. Why in the hell would they make pebbles to play in a hell hole like NY?
Get a hold of yourself there is no chance in hell of any opf this happenening.

Who said anything about underpaying Reggie Jackson. We can afford to pay him a top contract. Perhaps you misunderstand what we're talking about. His max is not the same as an older players max. Reggie will want to have his own team rather than be behind Westbrook. Why not NY? We'd have a high draft pick, Melo and all the playing time he could want.

I'm saying getting all of them at the same time to come here on those contracts is a fat chance of happening. Maybe 2-3(of the relevant and talented ones)
The Future is Bright!

So the team would be
c. towns 5.5(fingers crossed)
Pf.milsap 18.0
Sf.melo 22.0
Sg. Thjr 1.3
Pg. drogic 15.0
Back ups
Cole 1.0 mil
Amare 2.0 mil
Early 845,000
Greek 845,000
Caldron 7 mil
+ two young prospects to fill out the roster at 845,000 each
That's 73,880,000 we are at 89,000,000 right now can't we go over the 66,000,000 to 70,000,000 salary cap to sign our own players which means we can sign amare for more then 2mil same for cole, and draft pick
Also in this I'm hoping we trade jr chucker for peanuts or a second round pick or he opts out other wise our team salary would be 79,000,000 that's still less then what we have now

I assure you that Phil has relationships with some GM's and has been in talks this year already. There's no way his phone has not been used in a season like this. Even if just to make due diligence calls and to probe. This is too important of a year for Phil not to be working the phones along with his staff.

If Phil makes no deals would you assume he tried? I wouldnt. Phil thought this was a playoff team, now he has to eat his words.

Why exactly is this year so important? If it truly were he'd built a better roster.

How The NKY's should divide up their payroll for this summer???
