the cap space is important, but dwill is better than any pg we have had (on his worse day) since walt frazier.

Billy King is one of the great mysteries in all of sports. They guy is hands down the worst GM in the game.

Managed to take on the worst contract in basketball and give away picks in the process for Joe Johnson
Awful trade for Gerald Wallace costing the nets a lottery pick which became a young All Star
Giving up 3 first rounders for KG who is a shell of himself
Crushing all flexibility in the process

The Knicks would love to revist that Jeff Teague deal they turned down last season. As well as the Kyle Lowery deal they turned down earlier in the season.

I don't want any of the Nets trash. That would be a quintessentially bad and classic knicks panic move. The nets are in such a bad place trading all those picks for old farts in order to entice dwill to stay (only to watch dwill become a shell of his former self the moment they max'd him). Man. So bad. Billy King is a moron. He must be a Russian oligarch whisperer or something.

Williams & Lopez for Stat & Bargnani? Maybe send JR that way.

I hate to be Isiah, but how does that trade not make us better?

Yes, Lopez is one broken toe away from retirement.

Is Deron Williams just not any good? Sorry, but he always seems to light us up!

It has been well documented over the 4-6 weeks or so that he wants to sell the team.
I'm surprised that a guy like you who has a great deal of knowledge about basketball
wasn't aware of this.

Secondly, there's no way that the Knicks and Nets are trading partners.
Either franchise stand to lose too much in the local media and in competition
for fan base if a trade should blow up.
We have learned over the years that NOBODY wants to help the Knicks.
And certainly no help whatsoever will come from their fierce hometown rivals, the Nets.
Accordingly, all these trade scenarios posted on this thread are fantasy basketball ideas.

Did we achieve such greatness

Yep, made the 2nd round two years ago and that was it. Brooklyn made the 2nd round last year and that will be it.

HELLS NAH. He is making 20 mil for the next three years and Lopez is injury prone, we talking about finally having some cap and now we want to throw it away? No thanks.

Keep the cap space. No need to take on NJ's rejects. Joe Johnson is the only vsluable player there, but I am really more interested in a yoots movement than more retreads...Been there, done that...umpteen times.

The only guy I'd gamble on from that roster is Joe Johnson. He's still productive and only has one year left on his contract. For an expirer, he's worth the deal. The only hitch is that JR Smith would have to be included in the deal AND we can not do it during the season. We need to be as bad as possible to get as good a pick as possible; a guy like Joe would disrupt that process IMO.

What was the Nets' downfall. I figured that their window was only about 2 seasons after the KG/Pierce trade but I honestly expected them to be better than they were. People forget that those Celtic re-threads pushed the no.2 seed of the 2012-2013 season to 6 games. It's had for me to believe that they couldn't be as similarly effective on a Nets team with Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson and Deron Williams already in place.

The Nets might turn into the Knicks but without a draft pick--they set themselves up for it fcking with 25 year old players and multiple picks. Also that "right to exchange the pick is fcking STUPID" its like giving them an unrestricted pick if u sck.

By the way we are still the kings of trading draft picks for sht.

This. King has been horrible. Thorn did so much good there. Hard to believe Ki g is still employed by the nets.

Rumored The Russian would sell part of the team.

The goal was to WIN NOW and establish the brand. The valuation of the team win or lose is HUGE.
The russian is not losing on this deal.

Regarding the team, On paper Garnett and Pierce were to take them over the top and establish a culture.

DWill has looked good this year and has played in all games. I'd say the signs are encouraging.
Bropez foot is similar to what Kurt Thomas had early in his career and he played until he was 40. His back issue likely is just an injury adjusting to the rigors of playing a lot of basketball after being out two years.
Joe Johnson is a beast.

This team on paper should be better but they have chemistry issues. Part of it is they have not played that much together. KG is cooked. Plumlee has regressed or they are not using him properly. Dude was riding high on team USA but something is not clicking in Hollins offense.

There three contracts are the highest paid trio in basketball!!!

While Billy King has all kinds problems one would assume his ass should have been fired by now. If you owner told you to do this, really its not just on Billy is it?

I'll give Nets credit, they went all in during an era with a hard cap!!! I thought Knicks was crazy in the Isiah era but the Russian and Billy went way beyond. Granted, they did beat Toronto and get to the second round and have made the playoffs. Isiah traded picks that were unprotected.

The picks are a disaster if the team falls into the bottom third.

The problem is trading with teams that don't have cap space or what you get in return. We really can't move Amare because of this!!
Deron has to prove he is back to elite play, and in all fairness his ankles are much improved this year. He lost his mojo last year and it takes a bit of time to get it back.
Bropez if healthy is a valuable commodity. Its a big question and history is not always telling of the future.
Joe Johnson at age 30 seems like a freight train.

Way too early but Cleveland and the Nets should consider moving parts. Cavs goal is to win a chip and while Kyrie is a great player they should think long and hard about the chemistry of their team and if a chip is even possible. Deron (if healthy) is a better PG then Kyrie and in that role COULD be a better fit. That trade actually makes Nets worse as Kyrie is really another version of Iverson. Cavs have to consider the short window that they have with Kevin Love. He could walk if the place stinks and Kyrie might be the problem.

20ish games in the season is not time to panic. Miami needed a time in its first season in the "super friend" era as well with a rookie coach. Lebron is a smarter guy as well. Cav's and Love might be all just fine with how long it would take to get the chemistry. One season might not be enough.
Fans want more, but we all know about that.

Hard to believe Billy King is employed ANYWHERE. He might not be a bad judge of talent but he has no sense of value (be it trades, signings or picks). He's always been the guy looking for the homerun instead of a few base hits. Because of that, I don't think he can be anything but an assistant because he has extremely poor judgement in that capacity.

NETS ARE NOT HAVING A FIRE SALE - NEW YORK POST

http://nypost.com/2014/12/12/nets-gm-billy-king-douses-reports-of-fire-sale-of-teams-stars/

It's by Tim Bontemps and not Berman

How should we proceed at this point

Is this story credible because Berman didn't write it

Is this story not credible because it involves the Nets

Is this story credible because Billy King denied just like Melo denied

Is this story not credible because calls have been placed

Personally I don't think the Nets are in firesale mode

Because supposedly if they were to make trades they want

Competitive talent back in exchange but at the same time

They very well could be open to breaking up the core

They are currently sitting as an 8th seed with a 9-12 record

Isn't this such an attractive spot to be in

If they can hold on to a playoff spot this year

And do it again next year, then they'll be able to attract free agents in 2016

They would have made the playoffs 4yrs in a row

Nets ready to blow it up...
