Don't misinterpret this, because I'm not defending his bad plays. I simply think there will be more because he is trying to be involved more and the instances of good plays and bad plays will both increase as a result.

I'm just glad he's playing with gusto. He has been the team's leader after all. That says a lot about him. It may say something about the rest of the team by inference, but at least somebody is stepping up.

You got it twisted. His passion is cancerous. You can't win on any level if guys are cursing out teammates on the court in the way that i noticed. He's a diva type of guy. You can never call him a leader. His play has been more productive yes, but there is a reason we lose and he's a huge part of that. I'd love to see him outta here asap. We need winners not guys that sulk and and throw tantrums at his teammates. Winners may curse guys out but for the sake of uplifting and keeping guys focused not to degrade them. He needs to be shipped to a veteran team that will check that bull**** to the curb. Our current group doesn't have those types of guys out there. That's why we suck.

in Phil we trust

Aka: The "I didn't watch the Knicks in the 90s" thread. Sure, his game is flawed, but getting physical and being angry in an interview is stuff we used to like

AKA: This guy smackddog thinks because he watched seven minutes of a Knick game on February 12th 1994, he feels he is the biggest Knick fan on planet Earth.

I bet this guy smackdogg can name two Knicks on the current roster. Sure he can name Melo, and now because of this thread he knows there's a guy named Shump on the team.
(Pssst, please don't anyone tell him the guy's name is Shumpert.)

Hey, smackdogg, you are definitely one of those sports radio talk show callers who base their fandom on how long they've been watching a team. "Mike, I've been a Knick fan since 1965." Uhh, Mike should just hang up on a dope like that.

And one more thing: if you go crazy over those '90s physical Knicks teams, then you are also a typical ESPN Sports Center geek. "Oh, yeah, ESPN, show me more trash talk and fights. Basketball? Great passing, teamwork, fine shooting...uhh, what's that? I just like guys beating up other guys. '90s Knicks! Yeah! That early '70s Knicks stuff is for losers."
You're a bad cliche, kid. Stick to watching wrestling. That's obviously what you like.

When you first started posting on these boards I genuinely thought you were being ironic, or spoofing something, or poking fun at over reacting fans. Now I'm honestly not sure- you can't be serious with your threads, surely. When are you coming clean and owning up to the joke?

Why exactly are you changing that notion?

Kerr: 5-0
Fisher: 2-5
And you wonder if I am not practicing some sort of irony?

I am here to have fun and talk Knicks. I stopped taking the Knicks seriously when Starbury and Larry Brown got into a fight and Dolan gave Larry Brown the boot. Or was it when Starbury and Isiah got into a fight on an airplane and Dolan still kept Marbury?

I love the Knicks more than any team I have ever loved. I also realize that the Knicks are a worse circus and insane asylum than the New York Jets at their Rex Ryan worst could ever be. You think watching Shumpert violently throw an inbounds pass at another man's groin should be taken seriously? I watch every second of every game -- I can not take these moments to heart anymore. We are a joke, been that way for over a decade. I enjoy the laughs now.

Watching it again, I wonder if Shump gets a game or at least a warning.

Yeah, we re-wound that and watched it over and over again last night. At first we thought it was funny, then smart, then we all came to the conclusion that it was vicious and disturbing.

I swear to god, you can see canaries coming out of Shumpert's butt in that video. No, really, watch it ten times and you'll see it too.

Sefolosha is standing directly in front of Shumpert. Shumpert makes the decision that he's about to get timed out and throws it hard just like you are supposed to in order to make it bounce off the defender and out of bounds.

Should Shumpert throw it at his head? Hmmm, no.

Should Shumpert throw it at his chest? Hmmmmm, no, unless you want to give them a chance to catch the ball.

Sooooo, that means you have to throw it at the lower body, either the groin area or the thighs, unless you happen to think throwing it at their ankles is a good idea.

Seriously, the contention Shump is a psycho because of this play is completely retarded.

Seriously. especially when we already have a pyscho/bad influence in JR

I also love that Shumpert is being criticized for putting up stats. Gotta love the UK faithful. Gotta find someone to blame

You can't really fault Shump's passion, but he has no right to yell at his team mates as he did at the end of the game. I guess he wanted THJ to come out and foul the opposing player, because he already had 5 fouls, but he needs to curtail that anger.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

i really don't understand the shumpert hate. he is having his best season after being dicked around by mike woodson and working himself back through injury. seems to me he has wanted some sort of structured offense within which to operate and this is the first time he has had one.

these are his per 36 stats:

season	Age	Tm	Lg	Pos	G	GS	MP	FG	FGA	FG%	3P	3PA	3P%	2P	2PA	2P%	FT	FTA	FT%	ORB	DRB	TRB	AST	STL	BLK	TOV	PF	PTS
2014-15 24 NYK NBA SG 8 8 238 6.4 12.6 .506 2.4 4.2 .571 3.9 8.3 .473 2.1 2.9 .737 0.8 3.3 4.1 4.4 0.9 0.3 2.1 3.9 17.2

these are excellent stats for a guy essentially in his 3rd season. moreover his advanced stats are terrific. 62.4%TS and a ratio of .96:1 which is positively elite for an erstwhile shooting guard, ie he is orchestrating.

i have to question the biases of some of you.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

the Shump hate is residual from last season...

I don't think he has been great but he has been rather useful

I wish I were at this site last year. I know this guy Splat made a long-winded explanation as to why J.R. just had to untie those shoe laces last year.

Splat, you can come up with some lunatic rationale for Shumpert throwing the ball violently into Sef's groin. Bad behavior is always explained away by fanboys. After all, even O.J. had his defenders.

Hey, Splat, in your next post explain to us why Artest had to run into the stands and why O.J. had to leave his glove at the scene of a double murder he didn't commit.
