Kyle is a 3, no? They do have Thabo Seflosha though at the 2 spot and probably some youngster I'm forgetting.

Demarre carroll plays SF for them, Korver is a 2. Thabo comes off the bench.

furthest thing from the truth. He went to China during the lockout. He's also played very for the Knicks when healthy. Obviously with the suspension and surgery JR was not very good last year, although he played well late in the year. Knicks gave him an extension and it was earned. Pretending this guy is only in the NBA because of Knick charity has no basis in reality. Sorry mate.

Pretty much what I think the plan is for STAT or BARGS. you have to be patient and wait for just the right moment in order to get the best deal.

Fair point but you also run the risk of waiting too long and having the market dry up for him, however faint the interest in him may have been. SG's are a dime a dozen and given JR's reputation, it may make teams more inclined to take lesser players just to avoid the headache that is JR. I wouldn't give up assets to move him but wouldn't hesitate if the opportunity to dump him became possible.

If his value to other teams is low and the market's already dry - then there is no risk in having it dry up further. JR's salary is only for this season and next at about $6 mil. This is a manageable figure. If I'm Phil, I would give JR a long look this season and make the move you are suggesting either at the deadline or offseason/next season if he flounders in the Triangle and on D.

Best fit would be to ship him to a contender with a coach and a core who won't put up with any drama. Doubt any team wants to depend on him too much, they've seen what can happen.

Overall he hasnt played well, it's ironic that when he doesnt play well the health excuse comes up. he wasnt healthy during his 6th man campaign either but had moments of playing well. JR Smith overall does not play well and is a distraction. He would certainly be out of the league if it wasnt for the Knicks. Plenty of good talent are out of the NBA....no one wants him, thats proven.

Playing with an injury and playing after having surgery are two different things. He had a great regular season when the Knicks resigned him and the amount of his contract reflects his flakiness and his struggles that post season.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The adjustment to the triangle offense has been "a struggle" for J.R. Smith, and it isn't just because the system is foreign to him.

A candid Smith admitted that he must alter his shooter mentality and wrap his mind around the team-first concept being preached by Knicks coach Derek Fisher and president Phil Jackson. And it hasn't been the smoothest transition for the former Sixth Man of the Year, who has been trying not to force shots.

"Yeah, absolutely," Smith said when asked if he has had to make a conscious effort to play differently. "I mean, believe it or not, being the type of player I've been, it's a struggle. I'm not going to lie.

"Trying to think about the rest of the team over myself or my scoring is something that I never really had to do before," Smith continued. "I've always been in a situation to score, [now I'm] in position to take my time and let the game come and let my teammates succeed more than myself, I think that's the ultimate win."

The Knicks' adjustment to the triangle, not just physically but mentally, will take time. It has not been easy so far in the preseason for the Knicks, who also have had to deal with injuries to Andrea Bargnani and Jose Calderon.

Smith admitted his struggles after scoring five points in 23 minutes in a 103-100 win over the Wizards on Wednesday night.

This preseason, Smith is averaging 8.5 points and shooting 39 percent from the field in six preseason games. Smith said Fisher has explained why the team-first mentality that comes with the triangle works.

"He just told me -- look at the rings they have," Smith said. "It's worked. I want one so bad, I'll do whatever it takes. If it takes me sacrificing my scoring, that's what it takes."

Fisher says the project of installing the triangle and the overhaul in mentality will not happen overnight.

"You know J.R. like many players, this is difficult to do," Fisher said at practice Thursday. "Last night, we talked about we're not just installing new software to the computer. We're building a computer from scratch, and that's not easy to do."

When Jackson took over as team president of the Knicks, one of his major goals was to develop a new culture and way of thinking in the franchise. Like he did with his previous stops with the Bulls and Lakers, Jackson wants his players to think about the team first, shedding all individualistic tendencies.

Carmelo Anthony wants Smith to know he is not alone in this transition or "test" as the Knicks' franchise star described it.

"I don't think it's a struggle for J.R.," said Anthony, who scored 30 points and beat the Wizards with a shot and the foul for a game-winning, 3-point play with 13.9 seconds on Wednesday. "It's something new for everybody. It's a test. It's a new system. ... I can just put my arm around him and tell him be patient."

"It's going to work itself out," Anthony added. "And the more we play, the more we're going to get used to this system, the more we're going to find where he can be productive, I can be productive, everybody can be productive."

Anthony made it clear that he needs Smith this season.

"It's easy to feel like you're kind of left out of what's going on, [but] everybody is going through the same thing," Anthony said. "He'll be all right. It's preseason. We need him. He knows we need him. We know we need him. He's a big part of what we're trying to do."

So Karl-D'Antoni-Woodson told Smith to

Think of himself before your teammates

During his entire playing career

Then Anthony and Smith once again saying totally

Different things operating in the system they're in

I think Melo calls himself trying to be the studious one here

It reminds of last year

When Smith said the team had no heart around 40gms or so

Melo countering saying the team has heart

But distancing himself saying he finds it difficult losing

You'd think they'd brief each other

I doubt JR plays that game with Phil...if he opts out he's gone wind up being out. he will opt in if he wants to stay.

Lol, so true.

So you're disregarding the fact that he just said, "HE IS WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES".

What i get from the both of you is that, you feel jr should have mastered the triangle, he should have instantly change the way he's been playing his entire 9 yr care in just 2 1/2 wks.

Anyone who can't pick up the triangle offense/culture in 2 1/2 wks is dumb and should be in china.....

Both Kobe and MJ took at least a season to truly buy in, go research it before you guys make silly post.

NO

What J.R. should do is zip the lips

He's already spoken his peace on 2 different

Occasions how difficult the offensive formula is

This makes his 3rd///// we get it, you don't get it
