The immediate outlook for the Pacers may be murky, but Bird's expectations and intentions are crystal clear:

"I know some fans would rather us go in a different direction. But we want to win."

It is clear that both Larry Bird and Frank Vogel still have very high hopes for Solomon Hill. According to Vogel, Hill is "working his tail off" to become a solid contributor for the team next season.

Bird also said he hadn't heard about the Phoenix rumor for Roy. I wonder if Hill's development makes Cope available.

ride or die....not the best decision....I guess he would rather suck for 2 years and let the contracts evaporate. His opportunity to revamp the team is now. He definitely should reconsider his options....aka just hand over West and Hibbert for Amare and be done with it.

I'm not the biggest fan of Roy Hibbert but he is a 7fter and you can't teach that. Once upon a time, not too long ago, he was considered an all-star caliber talent in a system that we'll be running this season. If all it takes are expirers and some disposable assets to get him and a few of his teammates, I don't see the harm. After all, Hibbert's only under contract for 2 more seasons and it's not like a star-studded 2015 free agency is still available. The best that market can offer is some combination of Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe and Greg Monroe, which I don't see putting any team over the top especially at their respective price tags. On the other hand, acquiring Indiana's core would effectively make us the 2nd best team in the East immediately. With Paul George breaking his leg in half makes it all the more clear why it's important to take advantage of every opportunity, whenever you can do so. I think I'd roll the dice on this one.

Roy Hibbert is 27 years old and in his physical prime. He's a clean 7'2, clocking a stout 320 pounds. Look at the guy, it's muscle and he's well proportioned. He's got good length and some natural defensive instincts.

He'll never be a plus scorer in the league, he'll never be able to create his own shot and he has mobility issues in terms of recovery speed, but he's the kind of player that does way more than stats will ever cover. Too often people look at rebounds and blocked shots, but they are not looking at how many shots that big can alter during a game.

Hibbert is a year in and year out legit rim protector and legit DPOY candidate right now in his prime. In terms of his salary, I think you need to look at what other big men are making around the league. The average starting center in the league, who is not on a rookie contract, is going to be making 10-12 million a year.

Again, STAT and Bargnani had zero trade value around the league. Large expiring contracts like those need to be packaged with picks just to get those contracts off your roster. No one is going to give you any kind of valuable asset for them ( unless you are sadly the Knicks or Kings, teams where they tend to operate against common sense and league trends)

The only desirable trade assets the Knicks have are future picks and Melo, that's it.

Shumpert's value is incredibly low now, his riff with Mike Woodson ensured that. Early might turn into something, but it's hard to tell right now. Hardaway Jr is not going to anchor a trade. Teams are becoming more and more leery of signing and trading for players who can't even defend their own weight. ( Hence why no one has signed Greg Monroe to a big offer sheet and why no one wants to give Ray Allen more than the minimum)

The Pacers are not going to give Hibbert away for nothing or close to nothing. Just because the Suns turned the Pacers down doesn't mean Hibbert is worthless. Hibbert simply isn't a good fit for the Phoenix offense, though the Suns aren't going to go deep in the playoffs just with that run and fun and gun offense alone.

The Pacers also tried to trade Hibbert for Monroe. They aren't giving him away yet but he is owed over 14 mil this year and next. Last year was really bad for Hibbert. Stern is no longer the commish. The Hibbert rules are no longer in place and the Pacers aren't the flavor of the month for the nba this year. I am not sure that Hibbert s a wise investment for any team. There is the potential for acquiring him to workout but it isn't enough for the Pacers to get close to what would have been considered equal value a year ago. He may eventually be traded for cap space. Remember Walsh is there and at one point Walsh was rumored to be considering moving the Gallo pick with Zach to get rid of his contract.
