From the Knicksblog:
Taking Tyler’s spot on the roster will be Acy, an absolute bulldog on defense. He’s as intense and as loud as they can, proving to be an intimidating force down low when he fights for rebounds. Ultimately, he’s a role player who can down and dirty with just about anyone. He’ll be an instant fan-favorite.

Color this as another one in the win column for Jackson & Co. Such a move doesn’t come with a big splash, but it’s a smart one to make, nonetheless.

Thanks! Sounds like Phil is sticking to his plan of adding more tenacious players who play infectious defense.

Nothing sexy but he got rid of Ellington which was what he wanted to do.

NO YOU DIDN'T.. lol YOU WENT from Jeremy tyler high upside, to "when is he going to get playing time".. I find this to be a trend around here when guys are shipped out.... so now Quincy Acy=good, and tyler= blah!!!

I actually like players like this. It's not how high your head is. The arm length is a huge factor. Being able to move and have great reach is so important. He can move like a guard but still get up and get the ball. LOVE his energy tho and that kind of player really adds something to a team.

Outlaw is kind of a forgotten man. At the least he has experience and good size. I thought he was Ok at one point in his career, but he's fallen off a lot. Don't know if he'll stick around.

I'd rather give the Greek kid a spot than keep Outlaw- don't know what the hell happened to outlaw but he has nothing left.

Yeah sometimes it's hard to grasp why certain players were included in trades.

Maybe a comment could have been made////

'Hate to see Tyler go he seemed like he was coming along but Acy is a guy we could use'

If Tyler has "huge upside" may find out on a team like Sacramento.

I think it was a triangle issue

I knew someone like you would try to make a comment like this. I still think Tyler has upside but I never said that he was some star in the making. I didn't call Tyler a bum now that he's been traded. I didn't want us to just let Tyler go for nothing, since he had only a partially guaranteed deal and some thought he might not make the team. We've added Jason Smith since SL which would further decrease the possible PT for Tyler.

My comments about Tyler were right around SL when we were talking about the chances of our young players. Young PF's with his physical talent are worth keeping, but you make a trade like this for a guy that helps and a trade that solves a roster imbalance. Acy and Tyler are not the same player. Tyler was going to have a tough time getting playing time to develop. Acy is a more active defender and rebounder. TOTALLY different players. We didn't have a player like that. So I don't think you're point is valid at all.

He has Kenneth Faried potential, no need to cave in giving up Shumpert for Faried

Yup nice little trade. Someone needs to do the dirty work in the front court

Sounds like the kings are going to use the stretch provision on Ellington and waive Tyler. This was just a cap space move for them.

I saw Tyler play quite a bit in Summer League.

I wonder if the triangle was too much for him to grasp

Quincy also played this summer I believe

The thing that struck me with Tyler in the summer league was his terrible conditioning- he was huffing and puffing from day one- very disappointing.

Very disappointing indeed. We need high motor conditioned players. We got one for nothing

Still not sure what Fish is going to do rotation wise. This team has a lot of guys that you would think should play. Between JR, THJ and Shump in particular. Just wonder how it's all gonna shake out. Can't see a short rotation with this team.

Mills is saying that Outlaw is Early insurance. He says that they really like Early but since he's rookie, they wanted to make sure they had some vet help at that position. I think Early will make him obsolete. Just judging from what i've seen of Outlaw and Early.

If Phil makes ten total moves this off-season, I guarantee you nixluva will love all ten of them!

You guys are too much. What did I say but the truth!!! Acy is a live body. Did I say he was the second coming of Dennis Rodman? I didn't bash Tyler on the way out. This is just more LAME ASS Self Hating Knicks Fan crap. You guys can't get behind what are clearly good things for this franchise. None of the moves Phil has made are of any real value to you guys. It's not me and y views that are the problem here.

That's possible. I thought about that but I still don't see him having any kind of role on this team. They will waive them if they can

How many posters here were high on Jeremy Tyler?

I was never high on Tyler, but then again I'm just a fan. Tyler had zero motor so if Acy has a motor he's an upgrade IMO. Nothing about Tyler ever gave me confidence the kid would ever "put it all together" despite his considerable talents.

Acy is nearly 6-8 in shoes with that wingspan Crush mentioned and good athletic ability. He's still young too, which people haven't really mentioned he'll turn 24 in October.

Rotation has been my biggest concern, but i I also am looking at the the type of players we have, high character, low maintenance, play for each other, and thats as far as role players.

Like i said in another post, you have to establish a rotation by the end of preseason and stick with it. I think guys will get a chance to play because of injuries and foul trouble, that a given
