As of now, I think Ilyasova's stock is at his complete lowest, good time to buy low
It mainly depends on what we are offering back and the value of those players
However, Ilyasova would give us a position that we lack at SF/PF, with mainly players that have negative contracts but are shorter
I think he is talented like JR though he isn't the immature distraction that Smith is, I think he could certainly use a change of scenery and playing in a system/team/players that could utilize his abilities
Buck's Goal
===============
It is obvious that Buck's are looking to shed salaries while REBUILDING, their goal is to clear salaries, gain financial flexibility, MAKE MONEY as a business, and look to continue to develop their own players/continue to suck for ping pong balls/and add assets for their future like Houston has done with Philly following the same model at the same time
Unlike the NYK's, The Buck's owner just bought the team, and is looking to make a profit by subtracting as much future contracts as possible that are not part of their future plans
Being in a small market team, they do own the same luxury that Dolan has, though they bought he bought the Buck's as a STEAL at 500m, considering the evaluation of the 2billion for the Clippers
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Jabari Parker
are both Buck's "untouchables" at this point but have value in players in
Larry Sanders *likely part of their future plans as of now, unless he could land them an ALL STAR type player or a high potential player*
With Sander's and the Buck's goal, he could be part of their future plans unless a deal came where they couldn't resist and allows them to develop and continue to gain assets for their future
After his 1 break out season, he struggled last season after he got his extension and dealt with injuries
John Henson *similar to Sander's but ceiling is lower but better OFF, he is on a rookie contract, eventually will look to get paid though, however, that is still a couple years to wait and evaluate*
They also drafted
Damien Inglis a SF/PF that likely will be the cheaper option to Ilyasova
Johnny O'Bryant, undersized PF/C that likely will be playing Zaza's role in their near future
They could go either way with contracts like
OJ Mayo
Brandon Knight
Kris Middleton
Nate Walters
With a player like Larry Sanders is quite good for his ability to block shots at PF/C and not a bad contract at all for a young BIG
Another player would be PF, John Henson who is still on his rookie contract that would be a RFA next season and a UFA for 2016/17
Larry Sander's at 11m per year for 4 more seasons is a good player, it would also limit our financial flexibility to improve and sign FA's, especially any hopes of players such as Kevin Love/Marc Gasol/Rhondo in 2015/16 and possibly Durant/Noah with many other talents in 2016-17
Brandon Knight/Nate Walters, they are stoppage PG's likely not part of their FUTURE starting plans but could still be serviceable role players but Knight will likely look to get paid, while Walter's is still developing and is a cheap option as a high 2nd round pick last year
OJ Mayo another JR Smith type of player, with much potential but not reaching to his full ceiling, and questionable work ethic/off the court troubles
Zaza Pachulia, was signed because of their previous Head Coach, Larry Drew, the previous coach of Zaza and overpaid for his services, but with Kidd now in town, he could be expendable
Knicks possible offers
===============================
JR Smith is a knuckle head both on and off the court, is also questionable do to his physical abilities after surgery/low IQ
However, Smith's value could grow much higher as Ilyasova could go lower due to the focus of development of Buck's youth in Greek Freek and Jabari Parker
Like Ilyasova, his value is low now though he is talented, his contract is lower, and likely will OPT out of his contract after this season
Pablo is also a negative contract in terms of his age/inabilities, he holds a player option for about 1.8m for another 2 seasons and has incentives that can push it higher
However with what I am offering and my opinion of our both both JR Smith and Pablo's "value", they are negative contracts that expire earlier but if we were to send them expiring deals/TPE/NON GUARANTEED contracts to clear salary I think what you are asking for is "fair"
Expirings/trade exemptions/unguaranteed contracts/shorter contracts but negative value as of now in JR Smith/Pablo
While I don't think it is impossible to get a 1st round pick, I think in order to do that, we need to give them guaranteed expirings, or/and trade exemptions to clear salary
What about 2 2nd round picks?
If we are looking to unload JR Smith and free up roster spots at the SG position, with ending contract in Ellington, and a poor contract, though low, in Pablo
Let's not forget they have the rights to some combination of role players that we can certainly utilize like
