He's not overrated. We're talking about guy who would've been 9th or 10th man off the bench at the most. The guy played below market value for a few seasons and I'm guessing Riles is making it up to him.

Lol no sorry birdman is not a good player he's lucky the heat had zero centers/bench on their team.. Def not worth 10 mill.. Maybe the mini to be a 11 th man on the bench and a practice player. He dose hustle but so did Jared jefferies lol

He's a 10th man you put in to **** **** up for 10 minutes a game. Any other guy isn't worth that money but he puts people in the seats so he does actually deserve that money.

You comment about Tyson earlier is right. Tysons is way overrated especially as Shot blocker. 14 mil per season is a joke. If he had birdman contract and minutes he would be more valuable

If that is true, Phil Jackson is looking for a backup PF/C that could likely rebound/block shots/play defense
Vets that might have interest and be attainable in a 3.2m 1 year deal, maybe team option 2nd year

It is possible we could use part of the 3.2m MLE to give Giannis a 3 year deal, with a starting salary under 1m, instead of his 2 year deal if signed as a 50th pick, while using the rest for another player
Preserving CAP SPACE for next season seems to be the theme...

3.2m MLE
------------------

PF/C
========

Jermaine Oneil *when playing and healthy, still a very solid player despite his age and I think is better than Birdman*
Dejuan Blair *undersized but not a bad defender and provides a POST presence that is mobile though undersized/under rated*

Humphries
Blatche

Marion (think he is a nice player to team up with CA) does a bit of everything but is quite up there in age though hasn't shown much physical decline yet as a still serviceable player
Trevor Booker
Dante Cunningham

Jeff Adrien G/F

PGs
=======

Sessions/Bayless *in my opinion the 2 best PG/SG's left that would compliment our roster with Calderon as a shooter and facilitator, needing penetration and speed/quickness*

Other exemptions and ways to offer contracts, but pushes us to the TAX APRON====================================================================================

Early Bird RIGHTS to KMART, same way JR Smith was signed to a 3 year deal, though we could offer a NON GUARANTEED 2 year deal that could be a trade bait in the future to add up salaries

3.6m trade exemption that could be used by next season in addition to the 3m to use in trades

Vet Min
============

Chris Johnson
Hadidi

Brandon Rush (hoping he will recover in his 2nd year after surgery)

Undrafted *could use part of the 3.2m MLE, with team options/unguaranteed deals* with Giannes, TENACIOUS, is my name for Greek Freek
===========================================================================================================================================

1- Backynaski, if we were looking for a shot blocker/rebounder in Chris Anderson I think this would be a solid pick up

2- James McAdoo Preseason Scouting Video

James McAdoo

a better Jared Jeffries with the ability to FINISH and under rated defender with good hands/good handle, a poor mans David Lee with HIGH IQ, ability to finish with both hands, very quick/fast for PF

3- Khem Birch

a poor man's Wilson Chandler

4- CJ FAIR

a young G/F Josh Howard

5- DeAndre Kane/Kendall Williams/Sean Kilpatrick as PG's that could play SG

6- Deonte Burton a combo guard that is comparable to a YOUNG Raymond Felton but with Dwayne Wade type athleticism/strength/explosiveness/ability to penetrate/finish with contact

Agreed, I was pretty shocked to see some of the replies here. Hustle, boards and blocks...that's like exactly what the Knicks need.

he ranks highly in advanced stats such as real plus-minus.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

unlike THJ, Bargs and Amare who are at the very bottom.

Birdman's WS48 (a more widely accepted advanced stat) last year was superstar good.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Birdman has a lot of value, but his weaknesses were covered by the fact that he was playing with Bron, Wade, Bosh. You didn't worry about his ineptitude on offense and he could focus on defense because of the quality of his defense.

It was the same idea as Jared Jeffries. JJ was a good help defender and a hustle player, but when he played on a crap team his weaknesses were highlighted. IF he played on the Heat he'd probably have a great plus/minus because he would've been filling the gaps in the Heat lineup.

Anyway Knicks lack guys who can rebound/defend inside. Dalembert is a 20-25 minute player. Aldrich hopefully can help, but they need one other guy, because Bargs/Amare are injury prone and arent great interior defenders anyway.

Overrated signing? Birdmans production was really underrated especially compared to his salary for the Heat. Even if we gave him the LLE compared to his production he would be underpaid. He would of been a good fit here
