Well you are beign ridiculous. There are a2-3 melo haters on here. the rest of teh people Simply would have preferred he take less. So its not hate in fact its support for him and the team

The Melo Haters simply want to see a championship team and paying a player outside the best 10 in the game the highest contract in the sport doesnt help that ultimate goal

Yeah we should make a statue. Even though im a diehard Knick fan but i really respect a guy like Tim Duncan. He is probably one of the best players i have ever seen besides jordan/lebron and the guy continues to take less. No wonder San Antonio wins for 20 years
Go look up his salary history. Taking less didn't happen until he was 35

dont bother fish, you and i have said this multiple times each and people just ignore it. yeah, duncan took less, only after he made 200million..

Right from Phil's mouth. This is after all the reports of how they "connected"

This is going to be a fun first year in this era. First time I've been excited about a coach. One page one team.

"Melo Doubters" is a better term, IMHO.

You seem to pile on every time someone trashes melo but qualify it with a, don't get me wrong... Comparing Duncan taking less at the end of his career versus a guy in his prime isn't fair or accurate. What was Duncan making at age 30 in a state without state income tax?

oh didn't you get the memo? melo is actually better than duncan-- and more accomplished-- at similar points in their respective careers.

Dont get me wrong im glad melo is back or at least we didnt lose him for nothing. However lets be real he took the most money any team could offer. Taking a few million less doesnt warrant praise of a president lol. I mean we bust our butts 7 days a week at our jobs and our families and make barely a fraction of his salary

Hey the man got paid and so did Phil Jackson. So What! Melo is the best player on the team and when players are able to knock down shots his assists will go up. If Phil can't surround him with players that can help then we will have trouble making the playoffs.

Sorry Crush but that simply sint the case. I have defended Melo plenty fo times. i have called out a few people who just bash melo. I have said 100 times im happy to have him bcak and have no problem with the contract but i personally would have preferred him take 100-110 million because they would have been a tremednous sacrifice from him. Im sorry that i havent complimented him to the moon like soem ahve but taht doesnt mean i dislike teh guy not even close

the crybabies will never stop complaining we will just have to get used to it. However if the knicks are winning then you won't have to worry about them posting. They will only post when we loose. If Amare stays healthy this whole season we have a chance to win the east.

To me it's not even about comparing Melo to Duncan or any other top player when it comes to their salary. The thing is that Melo's contract won't stop us from doing what we need to do. If there's a top player available we'll be able to offer them a contract. If they want to come they'll come, but we'll be at a disadvantage just like any other team trying to take another teams player. We need to be smart about building this team. We can't just rely on taking other teams stars.

1st we have to develop our own players and get them to reach their Maximum potential. Then we can better assess what we need to change on the roster. This year will give us that chance to assess just what we have and where we really need to concentrate our efforts to improve.

The crybaby stuff is really gettign ridiculous. Nobody is being a crybaby. 99% of people are fine with the contract BUT they simply had a opinion that taking even less would help a bit more. Thats all there is no hate so no need to protect melo. Lets Go Knicks!!!

Tim Duncan got paid when he was the same age as Melo. Also Duncan owns a piece of the Spurs
so how much is he pulling in from that profit? He is a part owner of the Spurs.

Let's not get bogged down in a war of who hates Melo less or more. The key thing is that we have Melo back and we have a new regime that is making smarter decisions. We have to hope that the new players will play well and the old will play better. We needed to make a change to a Team Oriented style and we have that now with Phil and Fish leading the way. Melo is on board which is all we can ask for. Phil is gonna be in his ear talking to him him like the Horse Whisperer as he did for Jordan and Kobe.

Nobody has disputed that. I think you misinterpreted peopel urging melo to go to another level as not liking him. In fact its good to push stars to go to a higer level

Only reason taking less is a thing now is because lebron and crew set the precedent and won titles because of it. As far as comparing melo to Duncan in this situation, that is a ridiculous comparison. Duncan got his max contracts at the same age as melo.

I'm not some kid that just came into this and doesn't understand the big picture. I've raised children who are now adults. I've been following this team since just after the last title. I fully understand how things work in the NBA, sports and life in general. Among NY fans there is a contingent that doesn't like Melo. I haven't made this up or misunderstood their feelings. It's not just the statements here on this forum i'm responding to. IN the end we just need to see this thru and see how Phil manages this team. He's gotten thru to Melo on a certain level and only time will tell if he's gotten thru to him on the court as well. It's a good start. EVERY Knick fan should be happy right now given the change that's taken place so far. Not that everything is perfect, but that things have taken a turn for the better.
