I didn't believe it until this morning. Either it happens or Lebron is somehow even more hated in Cleveland than he was in 2010! Raising their hopes AND leading to them giving up picks!
You have to think the Cavs have a verbal agreement with James. If not, and you're a Cav's fan, you better hope that
1) they have a legit backup plan to use the cap space.
2) the #1 they gave up has some kind of protection attached to it.
Folks in Cleveland might be more devastated than the nation of Brazil in a day or two if things don't work out for them.
You could make that same argument for the phletora of teams that bet the farm for James in 2010. If the Cavs had the commitment, we would've heard about it by now.
The commitment might have been based on the Cav's ability to clear the cap space without giving up assets that James wanted to keep.
What's the expression that George Bush f'd up a few years ago... "Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me."
Cleveland was his original team and it is in a state where he has roots- I feel they are in a different situation than the other teams who wanted him in 2010 because they HAD him and then LOST him.
Cavs look totally foolish if they don't get James because they are dealing out of desperation, and not strength, by scrambling around to open up cap space at this point in time.
Something had to trigger this movement on their part... was it a "handshake" or hope?
