Knicks are over the apron, unless the renounce bird rights to Melo or he signs with another team, so they cannot receive an incoming player in a sign and trade.

I would love to add Gasol, but this isn't the way.

I like a younger Gasol but how much overpaying for talent can we afford?
Chasing 1 year rentals and the possibly to satisfy one players fears, while Spencer Hawes was signed for the MLE price, half of what Gasol is seeking

Now, if we can get him without overpaying for him, I am all for it, while Gasol's abilities COULD actually allow us to INITIATE the offense much better, and he can PASS
However, we have a SALARY CAP, and we need to be able to build a team from within those rules that are BETTER than our competitors with our lack of draft picks and overpriced "ALL STAR" being our handicap

Now if CA, makes 30m a year after 2015-16 or 2016-17, I DO NOT CARE
BUT because I am a Knick fan first, not a CA fan first, please don't paint me as the enemy

But make no doubt about it, Hawes, right now is the better player....
I surely would not sacrifice the 2015-16 and/or 2016/17 ALL STAR/2nd TIER/SOLD ROLE PLAYERS by overpaying for Gasol at this point
If he is willing to take less, I am all for it

A promised job, that he would be in our plans for future jobs in scouting/coaching/development whatever he wants at the premium price without experience, though I would expect him to get a START on it now
Having a reserved job for him in this PHIL JACKSON movement, I am all for it, that is my selling point

I would love to see Dolan find another toy, please stay away from OUR KNICKS, go on Shark Tank and compete with Mark Cuban, please just find another hobby
If he actually is a good businessman then it would help attract OFF THE COURT opportunities and future deals with BUSINESS and THE MSG NETWORK
Phil Jackson needs to lay out the plan for Zen Dolan's life, distracting him at the very least
Dolan is the only billionaire that currently owns his own network, be a billionaire "at least his family", and own NBA team that is 100% marketable

I hope that this was indeed Phil Jackson's vision to MAX Melo out and NOT DOLAN's
Regardless, we will need to find very good players that are underpaid at some point to build a contender
Gasol is a STOP GAP player, not a FUTURE player that we need

I think this is a lot as well but if this deal allows us to sign Marc Gasol in FA whats the verdict

I honestly think Marc Gasol isn't even that good, he is a player worth about 10m, not a franchise player, not even true ALL STAR, much more comparable to Pekovic than a young skilled Pau Gasol

Marc is skilled but he is SLOW and BIG BONED, not athletic either
In today's GAME, speed/quickness is very important, while we already have 2 players in Calderon and Melo that are NOT in the athletic/speed department, on top of not good defensive players

I wouldnt give him a max deal, I think the Memphis contract is about right 13-14 a year

He was given a MAX deal for him, he is either in the final year of a contract paying him $15,829,688, or has another PLAYER OPTION after this coming season
I think Noah is easily the better player in the past and in the future, barring injuries but Marc also only played 59 games last season

The thing about BIG MEN and C's and PG's are that for most, they depend on their physical abilities and while some find a way to stay in the league playing at a high level, many fall of the rankings very fast

And I am speaking in general and for how The Knick's are constructed, it is alright, I can have a different opinion from another poster here

There will be things we will agree/disagree on, however, like in life, we still must find a balance and a way to respect each other's opinions/views, even if we don't agree with it

I just don't see TWIN TOWER's working anymore, NOT when AT LEAST the SLOW ONES *the reason why Bynum/Gasol/D12 looked horrible as they got older, the exception is when they fit majority of the given

extremely mobile
versatile/skilled
athletic
HIGH IQ SKILLED
Good 1v1 DEFENDER
GREAT TEAM DEFENDER

It is also why Duncan was never paired with another 7 footer heavily TOGETHER after Robinson, even Tiago Splitter DOESN'T ALWAYS play many minutes together

Im not really expecting Pau to start for more than a year anyway
