no that is NOT what the article is saying. it is saying that their backup alternative is to pursue gasol.

Yeah, I'd take Boozer if it meant more picks. I read that Chicago might trade him to Utah with Snell and a future pick. It would be daft if there was a Melo trade and we missed out on that- it's not earth shattering but it's useful.
