Does that make them greedy SOB's for not opting out, taking less and helping the team reduce its salary cap numbers?

Like everything else it's situational. They will never see a contract more than $5M per year or they shouldn't. But I would say Amare is def. selfish for not opting out. He has already made a lot of money over a long period. I am not quote as familiar with Bargs history. The fact that he is a knick still surprises me from time to time.

Then again just opting out does not make you less selfish. LeBron is opting out to get more. Wade and Bosh to get less. Melo may be opting out to stop playing for the Knicks. Money is one part off the equation.

Also personally I like Amare and his overall work ethic. He tries to be a teamplayer and will play what role the coach has asked of him. Can't say the same for Melo. Too much sulking and pouting and and self centered. The guy openly said he wants the Dwight Howard treatment. So as far as I can tell with Melo it's always about MElo and never really about the Knicks. The reason I am bringing this up is because you asked if I think Amare is a selfish SOB. And honestly I don't think opting in our or of a contract is the only criterion to judge selfishness on.

I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only try to make them think - Socrates

This is why the option should be a team option and not a player option.

That or there should be minimum performance requirements built in for a player to be able to exercise the opt in.

Seriously, in the real world you are paid based on performance. If you aren't living up to your contract they let you go.

No, then your aunt would have a vagina with balls instead of ovaries. You're missing a part.

Ummm, you don't happen to have a clown suit in the back seat of your car, do you? Yikes! You be one scary dude.

Somebody has gotta lighten up the mood. Sound like a bunch of law school drop outs in here sometimes

You're mean. I don't like you anymore.

Never managed to get to law school. I did score a 151 on the LSAT though. That's a fact provided just to dispel the myth that I'm actually a 6'7" crack baby with an IQ of 85.

I'm actually the bastard son of Michael Ray Richardson. That explains all of my frequent grammar and spelling mistakes. My ship never left the dock

Did he have any other kind of son? And despite the coke addiction, I remember Willis saying Michael could outspell Bill Bradley, and had much better grammar skills than that stupid white Bird guy.

And you know as well as I do that you have no game, because otherwise you wouldn't be posting here. So that means you're mean and a liar, too.

Only the Bippity had any game on here. Or so he said. And he doesn't even post here anymore.
(Shhhhhhhhhhh don't bump this, or he'll show up)

vroom!

iF BOTH guys opted out, then I would start looking for a giant asteroid to hit the earth and wipe out all of mankind.... In other words there was no way two guys who would probably command no more than 5 and 3 mil each per year would opt out of deals paying them 20+ and 13+.. No way, now how, they know this is their last big pay day most likely and they are more than happy to steal this money that is on the table..

with that said.. lebron I don't think ever was coming to NY, not in 2010 and not this year either..
and why would you want him to..this is a guy who said he doesn't care about the knicks..

Our best way is to convince Durant to come, I am sure Lebron would like to play with Durant in 2 years barring injury
That is why he is looking for a 2 YEAR MAX DEAL, add in a healthy Noah and that would be perfect for the triangle, and continuing adding young talents

I don't think Durant is a big city dude, OKC fits him perfectly.. but if we were to ever get so lucky to get a durant, I could care less about that self centered prick lebron.. I want to beat him, I want to crush him the same way the spurs did... build a real team around durant, one that will last for years, not one in which every two to three years we have some self centered azzwipe talking about opting out, testing free agency..etc.... I mean are you not tired of the lebron james side show?

I am also with you on noah as well!! if you can pry him from the bulls..
