At some point soon Tyler is going to have to show some consistency and polish in his game or he will be headed back overseas. In the meantime I hope Phil is beating the brush for some front court help.
I think some guys just don't get a fair shake. He always brings energy and he's very intelligent on the defensive end. Combine that with his athleticism and I can't see why he hasn't found a home. Most centers today hardly have any offensive game and are poor help defenders. Plenty of starting centers today just stand in the paint, block an occasional shot, put up good rebound numbers, and get out of the way on offense unless they have an open dunk. I'll take a really good defender over a slow footed big who gets boards. Tyler's post defense might be below average, but again, at the 5 spot you don't really need to defend the post most of the time. The league is so pick and roll heavy with all these shooters and these good pg's that if you can defend the pnr effectively that should earn you a lot of playing time by itself. The only issue I really have with Tyler is that he tends to pick up fouls too easily. If he cleans that up, he's a starting quality center in my book.
