Clippers have defensive guys on their team. Shit Shump is supposed to be the next version of Alvin Robertson according to some. What matters in sports is the right fit and having guys fit chemistry wise. The Knicks can score but we stuck because of more than just adding a defensive player. The clippers lost because they don't quite have the right mix and Blake and Paul are working too hard. Melo on that squad takes pressure off Paul and Blake. It also let's the roll players feed off them better. So when you look at it like that you see that it is a good trade for them that takes them over the top in the west. Now they could beat a okc or a San Antonio. They still have to play the games but this trade makes sense. Most importantly it sets the Knicks up for the future, especially if you add what we get for moving tyson.
tony allen has been a key players on some winning teams. That bum has WON!!! Clippers have no defensive identity, no toughness, Allen would add that, trust me he would.

ok so where does carmelo help in any of those areas.. Allen already proven that he has added value in those areas..
as far as shumpert goes, he is overrated but the clippers have shown real interest in him.. kind of lets you know what they are looking for.. actually I think they had a deal for shumpert until the thunder blew that up sort of..

He didn't do that here, what makes you think he will do that there... paul and blake are not working to hard at all, what are you talking about? those guys have holes defending and that is what they need to work on... carmelo is not a fix all, if so the knicks would not be such a mess, with so many holes..
who on the knicks has carmelo helped? sure hasn't been amare, or felton, he didn't help lin.. not chandler....

most importantly for who? why should the clippers make a deal to set the knicks up? and hurt themselves..
Tony Allen is a small piece to bigger puzzle....Tony Allen won with Boston cuz he was paired with Pierce, KG, Ray Allen all at the peak of their primes along with a up and coming Rondo.....so Tony Allen's contribution off the bench is minimal in the grad scheme because Boston doesn't win because of Tony Allen....if they had Thabo or Shump they still win because of the other 4 players.
Melo didn't do it here in NYC because Amare likes to fight fire extinguishers and has back and knee issues....JR Smith is an *******, Felton is a complaining, fat felon....Tyson is a myth. So Melo has been by himself especially with the crap coaching job we had under Woodson. A lot was made about the 38-40 year old vets we had on that squad but those players were all basically done. How can Melo win like this?
You gotta be fair....The Clippers, if they can keep Paul and Griffin together with adding Melo, they will be a hard team to beat. Doc River's is the coach also, so you know there will be a nice game plan in place. You can't deny that.....Adding bums like Tony allen and a bum like Perkins at center now would work because of the elite talent you have at 3 positions....
