No we can't guarantee a title but i'd prefer to go with what Phil is planning than to keep doing what we've done for the last decade and more. It's clear from what he's said that he wants build a team with balance and players that understand "TEAM BB". Ball and player movement, spacing and intelligence. Not just winging it anymore with no plan or purpose to the offense and defense. Whether Melo decides to stay or go, isn't as important as these changes Phil is implementing. Just adding talent doesn't guarantee a title.

yea, actually what carmelo does now should not be our concern..HE is no longer a knick. our focus should be on how Phil can help this team move forward and I am looking forward to doing that.. MOVING FORWARD!

He's not your concern, but you can bet your last buck that he is every bit of a concern to phil, fisher, and dolan

If the Knicks pay Melo the max by the time they are able to create the assets they need to put around him he will be in decline. We will then start shopping are assets in a vein attempt to get the silver bullet player to help us get over the hump. When that doesnt work future assets will be burned up chasing a piece here and there that does nothing. By the end of it we will all be a decade older and angrier. If Melo wont take a contract that os in the best interest o winning a championship then let him walk. Sure we might be bad for a few years but at least it wont ruin a decade of Knicks basketball which i going to happen if we sign him

melo opting out seems like a ploy to make sure phil is on top of his game, I'm sure at the end of the day they'll move if have to, BUT you TKF don't think his talents can win a ring, i don't even think you regard melo being ELITE..

so what you are saying this opt out is all a test for Phil jackson? LOL.. ok

And no carmelo isn't elite... what evidence is there of that? any MVP's? first team all NBA selections....

elite is special, there are just a handful of elite players.. carmelo IS NOT one of them.. it is just that simple/

BUT you TKF don't think his talents can win a ring,

do you think it's only me? am i crazy to think so that after 12 years a guy who has never been to a final and been past the first round only twice has the "talents" to win a ring? winning a ring requires a lot, it requires more than talent..

Opting out is of no consequence to Melo or Lebron. They can hear the pitch and see how things unfold. If Knicks close the door he loses leverage. The more doors close, the worse it is for him.

He can sign one year contract for what ever he wants if he wants to take the risk. He can sign with SAS for minium if he wanted to. He can blow his knee out and he'll have a ton of money. He has choices, but they are his.

This is not true. I hope he does everything we expect him to do. OOH that Dallas deal he just did only time will tell. I know we just put another 7 million past 2015.
