Just saying, trying to trade and acquire other teams free agents, stars, and superstars hadn't really worked all that well for the Knicks the past 15 or so years either.

Characterizing draft picks as nothing more than an all or nothing get a superstar or a bust thing is not the right way to look at it. Teams generally covet picks, especially now with the new CBA, not because are simply a 1 in a 100 shot at getting the next Lebron but because you can generally get a player who contributes the same value as a comparable veteran while getting paid substantially less. It's about value. Value, with a chance to get lucky and sometimes get a superstar. Yes, sometimes you draft a complete bust but that's why you have a good management in place.

I am anxious to see if the KNicks can do anything at the draft and what undrafted free agents they sign after. Hopefully some Tyson rumors heat up in the next week as the draft is only 12 days away. Also, I wonder if the 6/23 deadline for Melo is to allow the Knicks time to set up a Shumpert deal. I am really hoping PJax isn't in Turkey letting Steve handle draft night.

I don't think we'll gain any traction on the Tyson trade front until the Love and Melo situations reach a resolution. As for Shump, it looks like his value has fallen so low that a mid first rounder may be asking too much. I wouldn't mind a deal that gave us multiple second round picks in this year's draft. Maybe Philly is interested in making a deal?

I know they are working on trying to buy a 2nd round pick. I would like to trade Chandler for a 1st round pick but his value might have gone down with his bad season. I am a big Shumpert fan but he may need a change of scenery and if OKC wants to give up something valuable we should look into that. IMO next year will be a transition year. i wuld rather try to get some picks and clear salary for the 2015 FA class

I agree. I think there are some salary cap implications that come into play with Shump in 2015 that make trading him a good move also.

No Eny- we are going to be fine - sit back and watch- at least for now-
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

This is liberating for me. I've been enjoying watching John Idzik rebuild the Jets thru the draft. He's put most of his effort into the draft and with smart use of the cap to add talented vets. He's building for long term success and that's what I feel Phil is going to be doing. He's putting a franchise together that should be able to continue his philosophies long after he's gone. That's exciting to me.

Just when you think no new stars are on the horizon someone suddenly breaks out and in the draft we're getting this prospective talent for very little money. If you put a lot of smart planning behind the draft and the kind of players you want to build with you can get really good value. Then with the cap space you have you can look to add a star player to that mix of talent that actually makes sense and fits together.
