I think I would have more of an open mind about the hire if Phil had more of an open mind on who he interviewed..

I was heartbroken when Steve Kerr turned us down but quickly realized that Derek Fisher should've been our frontrunner. I'm glad things worked out the way they did and wish Fisher all of the best.

Awesome. I like this hire better than if the Knicks got Kerr. Also, 5 years and 25 mil means the Knicks aren't going with a flavor/system of the month approach anymore. Having Fisher in place also probably benefits Odom in his comeback. Great hire. June is going to be a great month for the Knicks.

If everybody is on the same page and know their roles skies the limit.

He's bringing in guys that have won multiple rings, knows the system and the culture he wants.

Well to be fair Fisher is probably our biggest move since we have no picks or money. next Year will be better because we will probably ahve a good draft pick and cap space

I totally got the train why they were after Kerr.....I think Fisher is the same type of candidate except he's better and had everyones respect. ...

All we have to do now is sit back and see how it plays out. We are in great hands fellas

This will add a lil bit of intrigue whenever the Knicks & Warriors play.
I never though much of Kerr's basketball acumen as he was only a spot up shooter as a player and didn't do very good as Sun's GM.
Fisher actually directed the offense at the PG spot for a few championship teams... He has more to offer.

Now that Fisher is in NY do you think he gets Cablevision or goes with Verizon Fios?

Time will tell you can certainly make a case for fisher being a better leader and coach. Kerr has a better team now

I'm not interested in proclaiming who is better just yet

Fisher never directed any offense. It's what made him perfect for the triangle. As far as their basketball skills go, Kerr and Fisher are both scrubs but pretty smart. But when it comes to leading men, I agree with you, Fisher is the better bet.

Why is Fisher > Kerr?

If it's true that a team takes on the personality of it's coach -- than we just got a whole lot tougher.

Fisher will not put up with half-ass defense and will expect guys to give great effort.

Love the fact that Fisher is comfortable with Phil and won't be threatened if Phil is at practices or chipping in at practices.

This really feels like a great synergy with Phil/Fisher.

I think ultimately he brings more intangibles and players will respect him more as a tough guy who was a great competitor.

I also loved the idea of Kerr but Fisher is actually better fit -- just think players will relate better / play harder for him.

I think minimally the Knicks will buy a secon round pick. Draft night should be very interesting as a lot of trades usually go down then. Will Phil try to move Shump, Tyson, or Felton on draft night?

This shows how much respect Fisher has for Phil's ability as President. He could've easily taken the year off. When I heard Broussard over the weekend saying fish and Phil had a "BRIEF" conversation I was certain Fish told him thanks but I'm taking a year off
