Houston needs defense tho, and love and carmelo don't solve that problem... none of these moves outside of irving and somewhat love doesn't seem like morey moves...

is irving a two-way player?

No he certainly is not a great defensive player. Does he have the tools? Sure. His offense also regressed last season, undoubtedly though he has massive talent and potential.

What I don't get is the potential Irving/Harden backcourt. How would that work?

Love being available will diminish our returns if we do trade Melo (I think Melo is better than Love, but Love is younger), because I think he'll be teams first target.

Still, adding either of those to Dwight and Harden will = horrific chemistry for the Rockets- not enough shots and all three are devoid of leadership powers.

i THINK LOVE may be a better player, but I am not thrilled with his game.. at least not the jump shooting love I see now... the rockets are weak defensively on the wings.. I think that is what they need.. scoring is not a problem for that team..

can't say I disagree with you there.... good points you make...

Boozer picks 14 16 and 49.

Here is why. I have free agency in 2015--I can pick my players. I don't feel we'll be a player for chip next year although we can be real good with some proper moves at PG.

Look at our frontline Boozer Amare Tyson(unless there is a deal worthy of doing) Bargs maybe Aldrich--whatever way you want to look at that--that frontline is very good. Upgrade at PG--whether offering Collison the wheels if he takes less Patty Mills on the side --IDK but there are options.

Then we have picks 14-16 and 49 to go along with THJ Shumpert and maybe Toure Murry. In the next year we hand pick 4-5 players from the draft--a couple of minor free agencies and bang we have a core set for major players to come in 2015 with $$$$ controlled cap. This is important--its importnat to manage the cap.

If this is an avenue--this is what I would do.

A buddy and I discussed a Chicago trade that was Melo/Felton/Smith for Boozer/Dunleavy/and non-guaranteeds to make the math work. In addition, Knicks get pick 16, top ten protected 2015 1st that Bulls got from Sacramento and 2 second-rounders.

Basically gets Felton and Smith off the books for no future money and the Knicks get a chance to add 3 lottery players in the next 2 years. Plus, Pablo is the only obligation in 2015 that isn't Shump or Hardaway.

Chicago isn't a realistic Melo destination, though.

Looking like we can rule out Chicago as a trade partner:

The Chicago Bulls have had serious talks with the Denver Nuggets about trading up to No. 11 by sending Nos. 16 and 19.

The Bulls would likely target Gary Harris or Nik Stauskas at No. 11.

Chicago would prefer one higher quality instant contributor rather than two more developmental prospects.

They are only making sure that they are covering all their bases. Remember, there is no guarantee that Melo ends up in Chicago so they might as well turn over every rock until then.

Why? maybe we'd prefer the 11th pick over nos 16 & 19 also. Couldn't Chicago then trade no. 11 to us?

Who is available at 11 that is better than who will be available at 16 and 19?
