Its obvious phil does not want a retread either. He wants a guy he can groom and knows his mindest and provide an environment for him to grow and learn.

Its obvious he wants one of his guys. Someone who was in the system and knows "gets it". What is "it"? The "Zen"? "The Force"?, The triangle? I don't know but he will likley gravitate to a guy who sees things as he does to some extent.

Anyone who thinks he is Striking out has to look at it that he went after just one guy and thats it. I dont' care if the fans or media gets impatient as long as phil has his own agenda and is not forced to change it.

THis is not Grunny or even Donnie but PHil Fucking Jackson who has 13 rings and is a thoughtful man. Its obvious Dolan won't tell him who to hire and while he might interview Mark Jax, I don't see how a charasmatic christian pastor with an active congregation run by his wife in Van Nuyes California is destined to be the knicks coach under PHil Jax unless this is the guy who he wants. No because he was a knick once, or from queens, but he will be in synch with the culture and roster that will be constructed.

Phil was part of a winning team and had clout in who he wanted on his teams. He knows what he is doing. He wants Walton, or Tyrone Lue, or anyone else thats fine with me.

We are building it top down. President then the coach, then the roster to fit the system. Melo wants in, thats going to be his choice. Melo knows what PHil has done and his effect on Kobe and Jordan. While he wont' be the coach, he'll be around the team enough to make his presence effective.

i think this is embarrassing. phil has basically said triangle or bust. shows non-flexibility. pop's system? hit the open man (trademark misterearl). the triangle has failed everywhere w/o 2 of the top 5 players in the nba executing it while being surrounded by the perfect role players. and even then, it comes down to iso jordan/kobe at the end of games when it's on the line. imho, the triangle's best asset is to utilize role players throughout the game to keep it close and then have the superstar take over at the end to win it. but almost every single nba game comes down the final 5 mins regardless of system. and b/c of his stubborness, he will be passing on a host of viable coaches that command respect like hollins and karl.

Pop is flexible? I see it as the team plays the way he wants them too and they make roster additions based on the system. Naturally all systems need some adjustment to the players but the core process pop has used with Buford and on the court is not up for discussion. They have a plan and stick to it.

While Jordan is a great Iso man you have many Youtube instances where he passed out of a triple or double team and one of the role players hit the winning shot. When Jordan learned to trust is when the bling count went up.

The triangle is not rocket science and looks to me Miami and Spurs run a very similar system.

All great teams have great iso players and you go to them in crunch time. Melo can be a part of this.

You think it be wise to pay a guy 60 mil who has been a part of 13 championshop seasons and label him "Inflexible" because Steve Kerr wanted to be closer to home? That he wants one of his minions to be his next coach is embarrasing? Whats embarrasing BTW? That Fisher wants to wait until after the season? That Tyrone Lue is a funny name and not be taken serious?

Is this the coach? Looks like an ugly WNBA player!

Is this better?:

Don't forget the Zen Master was once a young man himself!:

This goofball led the NCAA in scoring!

Where is the Zen? Whoa, thats CLYDE!!!!!

Is this as awkward as being named "Tyronn Lue"?

This guy embarrased?

I'd be very happy with Luke Walton - I loved him as a player - he did the little things, gave effort.

As far as him being ready - with Phil as his mentor- I have no doubt. What, is some player not going to listen to Luke when Phil Jackson is in the FO and that player knows Luke is on the same page as Phil?
