Yea same here. He is 34 and Phil loves him and they share a similar outlook on and off the court. I have him behind fisher and Lue though. Lue at least has NBA experience as an assistant. Walton NBDL. For any of those guys New York as your first coaching job will be an astronomical challenge but they will have Phil's support

How could any knick fan argue with phil Jacksons hire when most knick fans weren't even born to see the 1970 knick championships. Whoever phil and his 11 rings want to hire, I'm behind it.

Great read thank you for posting. I know the Knicks will be killed in the media for not starphuching but I have no problems giving Walton the job. Seems like a great candidate for Phil. High IQ and has shown an ability to absorb what he is thought better than most. The perfect guy for Phil to mold into a modern version of himself

Who knows, if Fisher gets the Job it might end up better for us than Kerr. Gotta want to coach here with all you've got. This isn't the place for halfheartedness.

I'm good with any of those guys but I hope Phil is talking to Shaw to see if he can pry him away from Denver without compensation first. Get the coach locked up right away. Although it seems like we won't have to wait too long for Fisher with Ibaka out. Less than 2 week wait

Brace yourselves for the next guy Phil shows public interest in. He too will get the big bucks in a bidding war just because Phil is interested

I'd be pretty damn happy if we'd get Walton as head coach and Fish as assistant coach or vice versa. And that's solely based on a gut feeling.

Has anyone ever heard Patrick Ewing speak during after the game shows, repleacing Mike Breen/Wally Z/ and/or whoever as a commentator
He was completely nervous, could not speak in full sentences, and could not translate his thoughts in to words for in game or after the game anaylsis

Regardless, he got a couple shots to do so for MSG, but failed miserably
Does it mean that he cannot be a succesfull head coach, NO
But it does mean he will likely have trouble dealing with the Media here in NYC and have to take a speech 101 class to collectively gather his thoughts and improve his speeches because consistannts slurs and constent show of nervousness will not go well as a Head Coach for in game and after the game interviews, more importantly lacking leadership and directly interaction with players and management

In my opinion, only Fisher could be a candidate for a Head Coach if he has a strong lead assistant, along the guidance of Phil, and strong assistants/development coaches to accept and guide him through the transition

However, I don't think we actually NEED to run the Triangle now, depending on the roster
As long as we get our players to play a system that works, focused on TEAM BASKETBALL, movment with and without the ball, sharing the ball and exectuing to take high % shots, and build a system/foundation/philosophy that we have been lacking

NO MORE ISO ball and players standing around
Steve Kerr is a intelligent person, with experience and knowledge from the game today like a scout for players/coaches/systems and tendnacies(as a commentator/analyst and GM), absorbing knowledge/experience from many different types of players/coaches that are HOF's, from Phil Jackson/Poppavich, Jordan/Pippen/Kukoc/Rodman and Tim Duncan and the rest of the Spur's players/orginzation

Unforunately, we didn't want to "overpay" for his lack of actual coaching, but in my opinion he will is much more ready/experienced than many give him credit for

Gosh that list is painful to the eyes. Phil Jackson needs to bury his ego and either get in contact with Jeff Van Gundy or Mark Jackson. He had his opportunity with Stan but he lost it in his Steve Kerr chase.

Imagine if we hire one of these guys, lose Melo and lose out of FAs? Ouch.

IMO it's more important to have a solid structure in place than just getting talent. Haven't we seen enough of the just throw talent together style? What Phil is trying to bring here is smart BB planning. Having a philosophy on how you play team ball and how you put teams together. What are some key needs for building a good team. Sure you need that star type players, but behind that you also need a solidly built team that knows how to play REAL BB. The same kind of smart team you see the Spurs have year in and year out.

This will also include GOOD coaching. A head coach that is teaching team BB and inspiring his players to buy into team BB. Role players play harder when they're also involved in the offense and know their role in the overall scheme. Phil doesn't want another older coach who follows the same kind of thinking as other old heads. No more heavy ISO with some 3's and PnR mixed in. How about some Motion, Ball Movement and balance on the floor? How about some actual plays rather than the same give it to your star and watch the entire defense shut him down? This is our shot to finally see something different.

I wonder if Phil would consider hiring Battier to coach the Knicks. The guy is a winner, a leader and a student of the game. Captain on the Rockets and two years at Duke. Seems like he has the potential to be a great coach and this is supposed to be his last season as a player.

My top choice of unknowns. Seems like he has it all and is a great role model
