once a knick. always a knick.

jrodmc - Mark Jackson (head coach), Jim Cleamons (for the triangle) and Bill Cartwright (for the big men) would manage things just fine.

That's my three.

Or a college game, that's a fact.
Or a high school game, that's a fact.

Apparently though, he's wons lots of games as a GM, a color commentator, and a spot-up shooter.

Get me MJax, get Patrick sitting on the bench next to him. Teach Tyson that turn around J and how to hit hooks over the ghost of Hibbert. Who better to mentor our boy Cole?

You lost me at teach Tyson. That dude has been in the NBA double digit years that dog ain't learning new tricks.

ny4ever - management is always right, right?

Jackson won 51 games with an incomplete roster. The Clippers are a championship-calibre franchise, with a world-class coach, despite their bigoted former owner. Jax pushed his guys to seven games in one of the most emotional NBA playoff series ever.

Who cares about third hand ("issues with management") rumors you just blew up?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Knowing what your coach needs to succeed is huge. I feel Mark Jackson and Phil will have a hard time getting on the same page regarding talent.

BigRedDog - if Uncle Phil wants his next coach to run an effective triangle, he better be prepared to acquire the next reasonable facsimile of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen or Shaq and Kobe.

Anything less will not get it done in the rapidly changing NBA.

Somebody better stop John Wall and Bradley Beal.

somehow Mjax has problems with communications and employees in the front office. Three Assistant coaches as well. This is not a question of love, or his rah rah. One might even say the team is talented to have won 51 games and he did not add much to it.

Read up on his practices, relationships with Assistants, the Logo......etc.

They ran into a contending Clippers because they didn't get a higer seed and thats bugging ownership out.

MJax, Ewing............Really? Former knicks carry no weight for basketball purpose in my book! This is about the new ordained Pope (Phil Jax) and why would he pick Mark Jax and Ewing? Cuz they "know NYC"? I want them to KNow basketball and be an extension for what phil wants. If its a retread, an ostrisized coach, Karl, Larry, AC Green, Woodson and even the over rated byron scott!

Unless MJax is playing point guard I don't see this. Im sure as a fan its a nice thought. Maybe Rod Strickland is available?

VMart - please help me understand what "based on triangle" means?

Are you claiming that Mark Jackson would have a problem with Phil acquiring the next Michael Jordan (Lebron) or Scottie Pippen (Durant)?

Based on triangle assumes that either Uncle Phil or Mark Jackson is an inflexible, self-centered, egomaniac who would not listen to the other.

Nalod - who cares?

The head coaches job is to communicate with the 12 dudes in uniform. The GM runs the front office. The Knicks have plenty of executive layers (please check the org chart) to handle the front office. That would NOT be Mark Jackson's job in New York.

In Atlanta, Lenny Wilkens spent little time hob-nobbing with Hawks front office people and he is in the Hall of Fame.

Yup. Plus how will they have a healthy relationship when they start in 2 different paths?

the hypocrisy of earl is hilarious. before mark jackson ever became a coach all he did was say how great of a coach he would be, even though he had no coaching background whatsoever. fast forward to this year and all the sudden steve kerr is 'just an announcer' with no coaching background. funny how that works.

What about the assitant coaching problems?
Fracturing your staff is not good. Its about having your staff all going in the same direction. How do you build a culture if your head coach is know for being a douchbag? How easy will it be to hire new assistants knowing the reputation he has with them?

YOu say bring in Cartwright, Cleamons, etc......what if they say, "Phuch that, word is the dude is bad to work for!" Oh wait, he is a former knick and from queens? Oh snap, my bad! Where do I sign!!"

What is phil known for? Good communicator. I don't trust all the GS players statements cuz NBA players talk out their ass half the time.

From what I read, he don't like running practice for the "12 dudes on the court". And those coaches that did, they have been run off!

Oh wait, what part of Queens is he from? That might matter!

Earl,

No doubt MSG has been the clown town organization. Kerr would have a buffer with PHil

Actually you bring up a good point because I don't fully blame MJax but it was really a bad fit.

Came across this article you might enjoy reading. http://www.sfgate.com/sports/jenkins/article/Meddling-Joe-Lacob-to-blame-for-firing-of-Mark-5458279.php

Given that, I think he'd rub Dolan the wrong way. I really don't kow but MJax brings some baggage with him and he might prefer to enjoy his life as pastor, be an announcer and not have the intensity that comes with being a head coach.

After reading the article, maybe Kerr does not want to be a part of that group? In NY he can be a part of building a culture. In GS, its already in place.

Besides, if he was not willing to relocate from so. cal as the owner wanted, why would he want NY?

If Phil wants a triangle system and Jackson has his own....don't you think those are 2 different paths? I am just going by what Big Chief Triangle has stated publicly.
