I'm sure Woody has a different feeling he still has a year on his contract with 3.4 mill on it.

When they said his fate will be decided "early next week", they weren't joking. This was the first thing I woke up to.

Don't like Woody's coaching but he was part of our most successful season in years and I wish him the best.

Times article mentions Herb as one of the assistants that lost his job. Hopla wasn't mentioned.

The real shock is here is we got rid of Herb. That guy lasted through a ton of coaching changes.

This is a full purge here and quite frankly its the right call.

switching agents to appease the owner was his first huge mistake. playing favorites did not cement his place as coach with all of his players and a few eventually tuned him out. speaking lukewarmly about lin seemed a tacit effort to appease iso-melo.

kidd was more responsible for their fast start than woodson, and playing .500 ball for the last 50 games and then losing home court against indiana was when the facade started cracking.

this season without kidd exposed him.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

It always sucks when you think of it that way. Players and coaches. Not to sound cruel but if we sat here and debated the impact on player or coach's personal life we could be here all day haha. I think those guys, particularly Herb, were long overdue. I forget which poster said it but I think Woodson was much more of a father figure to some of these players rather than a coach. His basic strategy was just so flawed it wouldn't be effective even at the collegiate level. That and I think he lost part of the locker room eons ago, like last year when we were winning.

Agree. I am a bit surprised some of the front office staff have been spared.

Yeah agreed all around, but these Coaches work in an extremely high paying, high turnover environment, so it comes with the territory. Not like he was making 45K and has now has to worry about how to afford enrolling in the exchange, you know?

Herb being gone shows you that he has ALL the power in making moves. I doubt Dolan would have fired Herb.

For now. Wait 'til an enticing piece of candy (insert injury prone overrated big name) that Dolan wants but Phil doesn't becomes available.

I don't know. I feel like firing Herb was very telling. This man has been forced onto everyone's coaching staff for years. Dolan clearly liked the man.

loved Herb, but it was so time for him to go, He lasted 15 yrs and was never in line for the head coach postition despite going through half a dozen coaches during his tenure..not mention that i have never hear none of the 150 players he coach say any good or bad about him, it's like he was just there out of respect.

Not surprising, its time to clean house. The roster is next.
