He won't resign because he doesn't want to lose the money, but as long as that option is on the table for him he's not a victim in any way shape or form. All of us are victims of his incompetence this season. So he has to wait a few days to hear he's going to be fired, what's the rush, it's not like he has potential suitors lining up so he has to know right away... I don't care if Woodson is uncomfortable for a few days, he's made it uncomfortable to be a Knicks fan this entire season.

Besides, he's the one prolonging this whole thing, not Phil. If he just met with the man he would have his answer, but he's developed some kind of bizarre martyr complex.

Yea like the I don't deserve to be fired comment. Seriously he put us through a lot of grief this year just take your medicine and shutup. I didn't think he would ever coach in the NBA again. He is making it harder on himself

Besides, coach of the Knicks is a very nice gig, you sign a multi-year contract and you're done after a season, making millions as you drift off into the sunset...

Some fans are so ready to self hate that any move made is an excuse to bash the team. Phil has every right to dictate when and how Woodson's contract is resolved. Who knows what Phil is thinking. He hasn't said if he's made up his mind yet. It's all speculation and rumor. None of this indicates a lack of class or disrespect. Phil is not part of the previous regimes.

The amount of dudes here looking to rip Phil already is laughable. I just wonder what their agendas are

maybe it's not impatience but a philosophical difference for which some fans have no patience.

"culture change"
"system basketball"
"fundamentals"

these are terms that are clearly a turnoff for a substantial segment of the fans.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I thought the tone of most posts was rip Woodson. No reason to drag things out. The guy wasn't a part of the exit interviews so he isn't a part of the future. Not sure why he needs to have a sit down to be told he is fired.

I would say that if the team reached the end of playoffs or draft and nothing was done, then it was dragged out. Season ended only a couple of days ago.

Is there a precedent where coaches are fired within a couple of days of end of season?

No I don't think there is a precedent. However, I do think the organization is moving on. I don't know that a sit down is necessary if Woodson isn't in the teams plans.

That's the weirdest thing ever: not sitting down with someone. Just send memo?

It honestly seems like Woodson already believes he's getting fired and he's kind of trying to save himself the trouble of being told at a face-to-face meeting. My stance is that if Phil is already set to fire him then he might as well go ahead and do it.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

He needs to have a sit down because he is still an employee of the organization and his boss requested he come in and talk to him. He is collecting checks from them and is under contract for one more year.

The playoffs have just started. This isn't Don Chaney being escorted out by garden security a couple of hours before a game and days after being made a fool of by his boss on Letterman.

Thing is none of us know how Phil handles these kinds of things. Perhaps this is how he always handles things with his assistants and players over the years. It could also be part of the process in making his final decision. He may want to pick his brain about players. The thing is that Woody needs to also consider his future. Makes no sense taking an attitude and burning bridges in this game. Any future team will be paying attention to how he handles this and Phil knows tons of NBA execs. Think they won't ask him about Woody if this ended ugly? Also Woody would still be getting paid by the Knicks. He has no moral right to get belligerent. That's Larry Brown talking if you ask me. He shouldn't be taking advice from him.

Mike Woodson 'bracing' for worst

While it is widely believed that the New York Knicks have already made the decision to move on from coach Mike Woodson, sources tell ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that nothing will be announced this weekend.

Woodson's fate is likely to be announced early next week.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN that Woodson is "bracing" for the worst, especially after the Knicks conducted exit interviews with players Thursday without the coach present.

It is thought, however, that Woodson has not been told of his fate.

Earlier Friday, a league source told ESPNNewYork.com's Ian Begley that Woodson is not interested in having a face-to-face meeting with team president Phil Jackson until he gets further clarification on his status.

The Knicks' subpar performance this season has led to widespread speculation about Woodson's future with the team.

On Wednesday, the coach said he'd like a resolution on whether he will return next season as soon as possible. Friday on "SportsCenter," ESPN's Stephen A. Smith said Woodson would prefer that Jackson reach out to his agent if he's going to fire him rather than have a face-to-face meeting to inform him he's being let go.

The widespread belief in NBA coaching circles remains that the job will be Steve Kerr's if he wants it, as reported by ESPN.com from the day Phil Jackson was introduced as Knicks president in March.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Derek Fisher also has been mentioned as a possibilty as a coach or for a front-office position. Fisher said going into this season, his 18th, that it would be his last as a player, but it's believed he prefers a future on the executive side to coaching.

Funny, He wants phil to reach out to his agent? Like: "You wanna fire me, fine, tell "CAA" and see what happens!"

Maybe this all has to do with WOodson living somewhere else and having to take a plane to sit down with Phil who will fire his ass all Zen like with those JEdi mind tricks and by the end of the convo Woodson resigns, or donates his salary to the Tibetan Monks!

Woody knows not to get to close to Phil. The force is strong with Him, and not with Woodson!
