His biggest impact will be felt in the structure of this franchise... Lets hope he is good enough fixing that, as he has had no experience doing so...

At the press conference, Phil made it very clear that he will be embedding these 7 principals in to the team DNA. He even said Dolan can get on the court if he can memorize them :)

he can try, but how would he do so if he is not coaching? what style of ball do the bulls play? they play thibs stype, not that of the GM or president... same with the Heat, and the warriors, and the thunder.... lets hope phil puts in place the right people that can carry out what he wants... It is easier said then done... and this is phils first go at something like this... it isn't a given.. if he were coaching, all of this talk of stamping these things on a team, would make more sense to me... what I hope is that he instills a winning culture in that front office, the way they do business and the type of people they surround themselves with... everything else will or should trickle down...

but phil is no longer coaching..

Spolestra is mentored by Riley. It has been reported that they meet everyday and go over philosophy and coaching. I think Phil will try to have the same relationship/influence on his coach.

That would great. The last time we had that (grunwald and Woodson) we had our most successful season in years.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

If Phil had been here there's no way he'd just allow Woodson to keep doing what he's been doing. Woodson may have some working knowledge of offense but no one was knocking down his door for his advice on offensive principles. He's lucky that his friends were connected with the Knicks for him to even be given a chance to coach in the 1st place. Who else was even thinking about Woodson?

As regards the fact that Phil won't be coaching, this is true, but surely he's going to have an impact on the culture of the franchise and the philosophy everyone will live by. He's gonna be able to hand pick a coach that can be an extension of him on the floor and i'm sure like Riley he's gonna mentor that coach as much as he does everyone in the organization. We've needed a guiding set of principles and a leader of all things BB and now we have one so I really am tired of all the doubters and naysayers acting like this can't work somehow. There are no guarantees but could we have found a better leader of men than Phil Jackson? This is basically what he's most known for. Getting thru to the men he's in charge of and getting them to buy in. No one has more clout in that regard. Nothing he says isn't true but more important is the IMPLEMENTATION of those core principles. Not everyone has the people skills to convince others to actually buy in to those team concepts.
