not a popular view, but, regardless - I'd argue Dolan's biggest mistake is not that he micromanages, rather that he gives too much autonomy to - first Larry (who is a great coach but wasn't great here) then Isiah. Ironically - when Dolan did seemingly get involved - he displaced Walsh on the Melo trade, a mistake.
Knicks haven't been good under Dolan, but in reality, with excpetion of a couple of storied years, the history of the franchise has been long periods of poor results that go back well before Dolan got involved.
He hired Larry, Isiah, Walsh, and now Jackson, and, with exception ironically of Melo trade - seems to me to have given total autonomy.
Results haven't been there, but, his payroll has been, he's kept out of the papers, been very low key, and hired 'superstar' execs. Honestly don't get the venom spewed his way.
