We are paying him 12 million dollars a year and he can't even show up to games on the west coast?

Not a good sign at all. Was this just a money grab for him and a face to give to the press for jimmy d?

I wish that Jax would hire a real GM to work under him like a Ryan Mcdonough. Jax looks like he is and will be in big time lazy mode. I read somewhere that in his last year with the lakers, he barely practiced with his team.

What Team Presidents you know of that travel with the team?

I would like to see his as much as I see Riley - which is a lot.

He could have gone to the west coast games. He should go to the east coast games as well.

Riley travels with team? You know this?

I did not say that.

I said that he is seen at the games (certainly in Miami) and that I would like to see Phil as hands on as Riley is not just a guy that sits home and watches tape.

I guess Isola and Berman have already commented on how they can't find Phil to personally interview and photo Jackson at games, we'll add you to that list. It's growing.

Phil is being very suspicious, being team president and all, he should be very visible and make sure to be video'ed etc for us all to judge. It's where they make their mark. I think it's how Bird grew Indiana.

When Jackson starts making moves, Im sure he will become more accessible. If the season had just started I would be bothered about it. Lets see what happens if we make the playoffs.

I am not sure if you are being sarcastic but I will assume that you are.

Are you okay with him just sitting home? If yes, how about if its not just this season but next season too?

I love jackson and I was as thrilled as the rest of us that he was brought in. I just wish/hope that he would/will spend more time with the team.

I don't care if he is being video'd or photo'd, I just want to know that he is very active. And, if you are trying to change the culture of a team, don't you think that its important to be very visible (to the team)?

When you are this late in season in playoff hunt desperation, it's up to players and coach. President shouldn't cause distractions. Non visible is best, especially with ny media twisting and turning every word and photo shoot.

I hear that. I am curious what he does if we make the playoffs. Does he just sit back and watch or help us play smarter?

Obviously this will all play out and its too early to reach any conclusions.

I also found that the only game that he showed up to was the laker game and he is yukking it up with Metta. I think that he had many ulterior motives there.

I think that Phil loves that everyone reads into his every move he lives for this (zen) sh1t.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

You are probably right. Is that the right message? Maybe it is. Maybe he could care less about the playoffs knowing that we this pile of sh1t we have no shot.

As a fan, I would still like to watch my team play playoff games and maybe even get one miracle upset.

The media have set their usual BS trap- if Phil attended the games they would run their "Phil should coach over Woody, Woody is being undermined" etc etc, if he doesn't they run their "Phil is not attending games! gasp!"- whichever way they'd find a way to complain and make up some sort of drama. Personally, I'm not bothered, in fact I think it's probably the right thing that he doesn't attend games as it would make things awkward for Woody if players kept turning to Phil for input.

What would be the purpose of Phil Jackson attending road games??..Also, wasn't one of the reasons he stopped coaching was that he couldn't travel or his physical ailments made constant traveling difficult...

My hope is that he's working on the things he said he would work on - establishing a winning culture, developing a system to nurture talent, shoring up our international scouting, hell - shoring up all our scouting, etc.

I don't think joining the team on games is really that helpful to those goals. I'm not a fan of face time, and I trust Phil Jackson enough to not need to see him at games to believe that he's working.

The stuff he needs to change isnt going to be improved by him telling Woodson what to do on plays, or giving pep talks to players. The knicks have deep seated organizational issues that will take systems and time to solve

Rose is not the answer.

Good points. Phil will be run out of town faster than Walsh if all he does is talk with the media after appearing at every game

Phil just signed on - can we leave the sky is falling/conspiracy/fire Phil madness to a minimum until he has had some time to put his stamp on the franchise?

Seriously, this has to be one of the most frustrating aspects of being a Knick fan - as soon as someone signs on whether it be a player, coach, or front office person, the rumors and media stories begin with the "they are already failing at their job, lets run them out of town" scenarios.

I get that this is New York but this doesn't happen with the Yankees (unless you are A-Rod and then you deserve it).

PJax forgot more about leadership and coaching than this board knows about both collectively... I am not going to question him on what he wants to do one month into his tenure

I hear this whole deal was just so he could do Jeannie at the top of the Empire State Building on a bed made of Dolan's $100 dollar bills.

I hear what your saying... we have a guy with 11 rings and we made the playoffs, so why delay trying to integrate what this guy has to offer right? Your thinking is understandable, but its an issueof executing.

Phil is still an outsider. He's in a position of great authority, but he's got no mark on this team or coaching staff, all are left over from the prior regime. So if Woody and the crew make it then Phil steps in? I dont see any way to execute that plan without it coming off as a distraction, or undermining the coaches. Even if they NEED to be undermined, you still dont do it. Its the wrong approach. Phil needs to sit back evaluate.

The time for him to put his mark on the team will come. Its not now

Berman and Isola wrote a column the other day that Phil refuses to transfer from Timer Warner Cable to Cablevision and Dolan is not happy. May be in issue in the future

You are right. I wonder why that is? I think Knicks media needs a shakeup. Maybe someone can right a column calling for their heads

The only other team that gets this kind of circus coverage is the Jets but even they're not as bad

if we make the playoffs, I would love to see Phil do something insane like fire woodson before the playoffs and takeover.

That would be memorable sh1t.

Why not? The dude is a lame duck/dead man walking anyway and does not have a clue in the playoffs.

Now thats the zen boost that I need.

so here is what phil is thinking ....
