Nalod, the unchallenged king of the low-level, even-keeled MeloNotQuiteDislike.

"Hey, I understand your Gallo/Moz/Mayor/draft pick/cap space pain, but it's been awhile, get over it."
"By the way, while you're trying to get over it, here's why I really loved all those yoots and picks and space..."
"Yeah, I like the Knicks, I just happen to like other teams as much or maybe even a little more due to more intriguing management, better players, nicer history, better understatedness..."

Centrism, the new black!

One of the more curious episodes of the Knicks' offseason played out in April at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, a showcase for NBA prospects in Virginia, when an American front-office basketball executive conferred with a Senegalese agent about a 7-foot-1, 270-pound Russian center.

Glen Grunwald, the Knicks' senior vice president for basketball operations, said he remembers his conversation with Bouna Ndiaye, whose client, Timofey Mozgov, had emerged as one of the brightest young stars at the European championships last fall. According to Mr. Grunwald, Mr. Ndiaye approached him and said, "Ah, Glen! I have a player for you!"

Mr. Ndiaye has a slightly different account. "Glen was hearing my name in the arena," Mr. Ndiaye said. "Everyone was saying 'Bouna! Bouna!' So Glen came up to me and said, 'Bouna! I want to talk to you! I hear you are offering Mozgov!'"

At this point, perhaps the details—sketchy details, subject to revisionist history—are irrelevant. What matters is that the Knicks, after weeks of covert negotiations, signed the 24-year-old Mr. Mozgov to a 3-year, $9.7-million contract this month with the hope that he will develop into a reliable post presence. And they are banking on him even though he averaged just six points in 13.6 minutes per game last season with B.C. Khimki, his Russian club team.

Would love if Phil brought Glenn back into the loop. He found a lot of hidden gems in Europe and seemed to have a good handle on things and the Knicks situation.

In 2014/15 over $26 million of the Nuggets salary cap is currently allocated to the following former Knick injured, injury prone, mediocre or non-performing players......

Danilo Gallinari - $10.85
Wilson Chandler - $6.75
Timofey Mozgov - $4.65
Nate Robinson - $2.1
Anthony Randolph - $1.825

Granted they have more picks than the Knicks, but you have to ask yourself is this realistically the winning formula they conjured up when they traded with us?

My bad, I used 13/14 numbers by mistake. Corrected above.

No, actually their built-for-long-term, winning formula included Ray Felton, but alas, that didn't work out.
And don't forget how they have been cunningly using all that remaining EvilMelo cap space to ...not...make it out of the "junior varsity" season.

Look ma, proxy hate with no hands!

My intent behind starting this thread was to express my admiration of Timofey Mozgov's development; not to denigrate Melo (who is my favorite player). It's unfortunate that we had to give up so much for Melo but if it was the ONLY option we had to get him, I more than support the trade.
