Guns u really are such a negative fan. Every post is negative. This is such a great day in Knick history. Its not about Dolan , its about Phil coming back to the Knicks. One of the greatest minds in basketball history is coming home to hopefully build this team back. He doesn't want to coach at this time in his life but he wants to build a franchise. Maybe it doesn't work out , but at this point who could ask for anything better??? I have complete confidence in Phil. If you know basketball that is all you need to know. Phil knows basketball and what it takes to win. This really is one of the greatest days in Knick history!!!

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

"Chase" Square? What the hell is that?

Damn BigRed... I don't think Crush guns, me, and others noting the timing of this just as the fanbase was about to boil over is on some doom and gloom ****... Meanwhile you got nowhere to go but down! Dude ain't even do anything yet and he's the best thing since Red Holtzman?

Show and prove, I say, no matter who.

I'm sorry, 4 days before an official announcement of Phil in a front office position that a guy has never proved himself in is not one of the greatest days in franchise history, I'm sorry. Call me a Somber but this organization has an uncanny knack of throwing an all-star **** show. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens, but let's see if it translates to a goddamn second round appearance first!

I don't look at anything through a prism though. Everything happens for a reason. And when something happens a new future is written. Open your mind. Anticipate. Never get too high. Never get too low. Wait for the endgame. Then judge. Good or bad. Learn from success, as well as mistakes.

This isn't a trade for Marbury, Spencer Haywood or some othe star ****. This is Phil wanting to rebuild his beloved franchise. Phil is above star****ing. Why else are Magic and Kobe so upset losing Phil? They understand who and what Phil is and can do for a franchise. This is a great day in Knick history.

Obviously, I hope this works out well and Phil Jackson becomes the greatest President of Basketball Operations in NBA history. Assuming that doesn't happen, there are still two big reasons all Knicks fans should be looking forward to this:

1. No more media blackout. Dolan's complete and utter refusal to say anything, or to allow anyone working under him to say anything, to the press and be extension to us will no longer be in place while Jackson is here. Phil's going to talk to whoever the hell he wants to and no amount of petulant whining by Dolan will change that.

2. To a certain extent I have to believe this reduces Dolan's control on day-to-day operations and personnel management. I can't believe that Jackson would agree to come here after seeing what's happened to this organisation since Dolan took over in 1999 without some level of guaranteed autonomy.

3. Even if this turns out to be a complete cluster**** and Jackson is fired he'll definitely write a book about his experiences here and won't pull any punches.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

How can you be so jaded that you think every move is the same?

it just fits the pattern, and if we were about dat he'd be coaching instead of collecting a mountain of cash to act as a figure head

third time is a charm? i would not be so sure about it

Ha… fair points. I hope and expect it will be a change for the better… bring the title years energy back to the organization… but the overexuberance here over a role that has yet to be officially announced is a bit much for me. I'll cop to being a bit jaded though. I don't think you can say it is (or will be, when we exactly know what it is!) "one of the greatest days in Knicks history" yet — that's only something you could say in hindsight IMHO if he helps bring a ring or two, or at least some Finals appearances... either that, or it says something telling about the lack of great moments in Knicks history. You won't be saying that if all that comes of it is acrimony and a book that puts Dolan on blast (though that would be sweet). So time will tell.

Well Phil's not a player, first off. Phil is a coaching star, no? But we don't expect them to announce he's going to be coach, do we? (Them announcing Phil found the fountain of youth and has the stamina to be with the team 82+ games as head coach — now that would be a different story!) So can you maybe see why I might side-eye this as a front office starphuch? The great things Phil has done for the Lakers, Bulls, the Albany Patroons have been on the sidelines. The front office is a bit different I imagine, especially in MSG. I'm not worried about Kobe and Magic, let them dry their tears in all those banners hanging above them. But don't get me wrong, I really hope it works out! But I'm going to wait and see before I proclaim it as one of the greatest days. I hope you are right though!

Im not worried about them either. The point is, is that they know basketball a heck of a lot better than you and I consider their opinions much more than yours. If they both wish that Phil stayed and ran the Lakers orginization instead of doing that with the knicks then that makes me feel like this is a great thing for the knicks.

It's just optimism, Doc! Being a knick fan has been brutal for so long- sometimes people just want to feel hopeful once in a while. However Phil does (be it well or disasterous), this is the closest we're ever going to get to Dolan relinquishing all control of the team. At least Phil will be hiring people and signing players based on belief in their abilities, rather than loyalty and crap like that.

This is Dolans great Starphuch from an front office standpoint. Lets be real here, sometimes they work. Jerry West did it, Boston with Garnett and Ray Ray did it. It can happen.

Whats also important is IF WE REBUILD and suck it next year letting melo walk, you have a talking head with cred that can sell it. Donnie could not sell it. Isiah could, but he leveraged up the moment he got here and was drunk with power. He started with marbury.

Bringing in PHil has no down side for fans. What you have is now some one who can sell a plan to dolan, then to fans. You have a mystical presence that transcends the usual rhetoric given his Zen like manner. The dude just met with the Dali Lama last week and its obvious he was told the meaning of life and path to enlightenment and fulfillment is to but at peace his roots. Sooth the Mecca and end the pain.

DOlan gets credit here for making this happen. It might not work, but its a good move and it shows effort. If having phil return is a good thing then Dolan did a good thing.
