There's reason to believe Phil will come back to basketball in a front office capacity. He did an interview at the Sloan conference a week ago and said there have been discussions with teams that he can't get into, but that he's interested in front office opportunities.

Now this leaks that he met with Mills several weeks ago. So I don't think it's crazy to think he'd come to run the organization. But is it crazy to think he'd be promised autonomy and Dolan would keep his word? I don't know.

If the Knicks get a basketball Czar, they'd be coming into a situation that isn't as perilous ans everyone makes it seem. Even if Melo leaves, cap space will be cleared after next season, we have a pick next year and all our picks after 2017.

But everything that we have going for us is only as valuable as the people setting the course.

I don't see Dolan allowing someone in here that would have unfettered access to the media. Dolan would have his minions there, typing everything said and reporting back.

Maybe Dolan's had an epiphany?

Personally, I doubt it.

Think of it like this. Let's say Phil Jackson is a Larry Brown like failure here. Can it get much worse than how things are now? Larry Brown was controversial because he replaced Lenny Wilkins who actually did ok here. A steaming like of dog feces can run the team better then these clowns are right now

Give Jackson time and he will turn it around.

I still rather go after a proven GM and hire JVG or Thibs

I don't think anyone thinks Phil could not do better. My four year old could.

To me, the odd thing is Phil doesn't strike me as a 'data' kind of talent evaluator, and yet that is supposedly what Dolan wanted when he brought McKinsey in to offer up a review - which supposedly led to Mills' hiring.

Yup another classic case of the Knicks not knowing what they want. One thing we know is whatever they do it will be wrong

You really think Jax would have responded with anything other than "Who are you and why are you calling me 'Phil'?"

The fact that Dolan sent Mills to speak with Jackson tells me this isn't going anywhere. A coach with Jackson's resume would most likely ask to be made GM before even considering becoming the coach. No way Jackson is going to tell that to Mills. If Dolan is serious he has to contact Phil himself, and as Supreme said give him the keys to the kingdom.

Dolan wants to say "I told you so" even more than he wants a championship so until that changes, its probably going to be more of the same.

jeanies brother doesnt like phil - they have a poor relationship, that's why d'antoni is coaching there now and not phil.

Phil would be a great addition to the organization if we can get him..But why do we always have to go after the obvious starphucking choice...Always..

Knicks offered Phil a front office position. Apparently we should know his answer by next week.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Just what we need- another front officer person with zero GM experience! Hope he turns us down- he advised the Pistons this offseason and the results were a disaster! Also it would mean no JVG and would set up future conflicts between him and any coach who wanted a say on personnel.

Phil and Dolan is in a dick measuring contest right now..Phil feels that Dolan should come see him and Dolan, well, feels he is Dolan...

There is no way Phil Jackson is coming to New York. He only works when the best player in the league is on his team and Miami and OKC are all set.

Or if he comes to NY, it won't be as coach, which means he doesn't want to speak to Mills about the post he seeks...
