Tulsa 66ers’ guard Mustafa Shakur has been named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in February.

Shakur (6-3, 190, Arizona) led Tulsa to a league-best 8-2 record, including a 5-1 record on the road and a five game winning streak following the All-Star break. He averaged 20.4 points on .462 shooting, to go along with 7.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 3.0 steals. His 30 steals in February were a league best. Shakur scored in double figures in all 10 games, including five games where he scored at least 20 points.

On Feb. 11, Shakur posted career highs with 32 points and 11 rebounds vs. the Iowa Energy. It was one of his four double-doubles for the month (three points-assists and one points-rebounds). On Feb. 8 and Feb. 21, Shakur recorded season-highs with 12 assists, in a 102-95 win over the Delaware 87ers and 144-120 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, respectively.

Shakur was a Bayhawk for about half of the season this year. I think they traded him for Lewis Jackson but I am not positive. I think his numbers improved a bit with the 66ers.

Sometimes its hard for me to eval Napier because Ive seen everyone of his games for 4 years--so I know his flaws and strengths. I think the D J Augustine example is pretty much as close as it gets.

I have no idea if the Knicks will get a draft pick or even if they did use one on a PG. I do know that PG should be priority 1 to fix after addressing Melo. I think the way the NBA is now--Id play 3 PG's and carry 4. Obviously they can combo out to 2. What we could do is diversify the position--have atleast one player with speed and quickness who can get up and own another with good size another with a combination etc...

I originally wasn't sold on Napier, but watching him the last few weeks, I really like what he brings at the defensive end. He can get a bit wreckless off the dribble, but that is correctable. Thing is, I don't really see how he makes it out of the first round.

Totally agree with the assessment of the modern league. The Knicks front office must not have league pass or even cable for that matter. If they bothered to watch an out of market game at any point in the last decade they would've never assembled the roster this way.

His IQ and leadership is top level. Hes very experienced in his skill. He has developed a hitch on his jumper--not in his form but kicks out his legs at times. He also is spotty on finishing. But his ballhandling game leadership on ball defense rebounding for the position range in his jumpshot and passing are all top notch. If Shabazz was more of a run jump guy hed be a top 5 pick--still I think he goes higher than people think--if he drops hed be an easy target for this leaderless team.
