No one brings up the personal demons that he struggled with in Golden State when he was a young coach but he is quick to criticize a guy that he worked with who was 20-26. Some good things in that article but I think Karl has an axe to grind.
some of the point he brings up anthony still is doing. he still needs others to be that leader in the locker/court. karl may have evolved and changed, we seem to still be waiting for anthony to do so. at this point 10+ seasons into his pro career, im not sure that wait is going to pay off, at least with him being the #1 guy or the things you might expect from the #1 guy.
I think the point is he brings it up every chance he gets. He was interviewed on ESPN Radio Friday afternoon and was saying the same thing. If I am a reporter and I want to do a hatchet job on Melo I call Karl. NOt saying that Araton's piece is written that way but Karl doesn't like Anthony. Karl's personal demons in golden state cost him his job and may have be related to later troubles he had with his health. The guy has a far from perfect past and had his struggles as a young guy.
the issues raised seem to be holding him back. you seem to be mad cuz karl had issues and is critical of a guy who may have issues (not the same ones now). the guy was his coach for a large portion of his pro career, his insights can be taken as fact or biased opinion. they seem to line up a bit with what i see however. hey, kobe got torn up by pjack in that book. coaches lay into former or even current players...
Yes. Pjax killed kobe and begged mgmt to get rid of him numerous times. Kobe killed his offense with his selfish chucking. However, he played crazy defense which Melo does not.
my biggest take away with anthony is the intangibles, which may not be fair. its reaaaal hard to say a guy cant lead/inspire/drive a team when im not in the locker, at practice, etc. it just seems to be that way seeing how he has done in ny. that bothers me, since i tend to think once you get far into your pro career, you do not become something else if you havent already shown signs of evolving. talking about it is what knick players seem to do though, they cant seem to actually implement it (crawfords famous this is our year crap).
