I originally said the blow it up people don't have a real plan after letting Melo walk. You posted a bunch of vague things which I thought was your plan. Your plan to refurnish the Knicks after letting Melo walk and not pay him the max. At least have a plan if you are going to say let him walk.

I think Andre Iguodala is the perfect player to team with Melo. Guys like Russell Westbrook and Eric Bledsoe I think would be the type of guards to team with Melo. I know none of those players are available but those are the types of players I'd like to see next to him

Who said my plan was to let Melo walk for nothing? Just yesterday I said Dolan and mills need to sit down with Melo and find out if he is willing to stay. Take $17-23mil to help build an NBA roster around him or if he wants more money on a team better equipped to contend then they can start looking for suitors

I've never was in favor of letting Melo walk for nothing. That is the worst scenario imagineable after all a e gave up to get him. We will never get those same picks we gave up but something is better than nothing

I wanted to trade Melo last year for Derrick Williams and minnesota's picks. Melo's improved play this year has me leaning towards actually keeping him and build around him

So then what is your sign-n-trade plan? You don't really think Melo will sign and allow himself to be traded to Minnesota do you? If you are going to trade him, the receiving team will want a guarantee that Melo is staying. That also means you have to trade Melo where he wants to be traded.

I think you have me confused with the people who hate Melo so much they rather lose him for nothing. Addition by subtraction

Also, what have the people in favor of blowing it up seen in the last 1.5 decades that gives them the confidence that this Knick management group can rebuild? At least right now we have a star talent in Melo. Build around him as best as you can.

I know exactly where you stand. Two months ago you started a conversation with me about Knicks having Kyre Irving at PG. No explanation on how we are getting Kyre Irving.

If you dont want to let him walk for nothing, give me the alternative if Melo wants the max? Somewhere Melo will want to sign-n-trade himself.

Melo is the only play worth anything on the Knicks. He is not Lebron but he can score with the best of them. Bring him help! 62 points with 8 minutes left in the 4th. He could have easily hit 70.

Blow it up and what then? Draft another injury prone player like Gallo? None of the armchair GMs on this forum hitting the panic button have a plan.

No question how good this guy is. I just don't feel that he make other players around him better. If this team doesn't have a decent facilitator, then the lack of ball movement and penetration will kill us.

guns we have to put things in perspective he was hot.. unless he can do that every single night, we need to leave it as it is.. a great game..

Allen Houston scored 50 points for the knicks twice in the same year.. 53 vs the lakers in feb 2003 and then 50 vs the bucks in march of 2003.. was anyone screaming about build around Houston?

Jamal crawford dropped 50+ for 3 different teams.. the only player in nba history to do that.. and with the knicks in that game jamal connected on his first 8 three point attempts and hit 16 consecutive shots..... he was taken out of the game with 7 minutes left and oh, he too could have scored a lot more points.. again keeping things in perspective... it was one game.. we all knew who jamal was...

Right. He is not Lebron. He needs a better cast around him. Shouldn't they attempt to do that instead of trading him and then we watch the Knicks management burn everything down in attempting a rebuild?

62 points and 0 assist don't impress me..

Um...62 points doesn't impress you? And he should get an assist for every time he was doubled last night which led to open shots.

That is the question. This is why I would've traded him for Blake but rivers dispelled that

That's a good point. I see what you are saying. I guess Melo is staying. Just have to hope he doesn't get the max otherwise it's going to be more of the same. Surrounding him with injury riddled, malcontents and NBDL players

I disagree about the Clippers trade. Blake Griffin with the same supporting cast will be a bigger disaster than Melo. IMO, our best bet is to hold on to Melo and surround him as best as we can. Anything else will be Shanon Anderson and Howard Eisley all over again. Remember Clarence Weatherspoon?

Melo is a great scorer. No one can argue that. The thing is we don't have any assets to surround him with players he needs. We lost all that in the trade. If you can figure out how to surround him with better players at our current state then I am all for it. If not, then we need to blow this up.

So what blow it up scenarios did you like? It's either the Blake one where we get back a valuable piece or a complete rebuild with picks and contract fillers to start over

My fear is that instead of trading Tyson and letting Amare and Bargnani expire they are going to trade his expiring for another injury riddled malcontent then we are stuck with Melo and another guy riding the line for another decade

I think the Knicks best shot with Melo would be in FA and trading everybody not named THJr, Murray and Tyler.
Shoot for Sessions and Sefolosha or in 14.
Shoot for Rondo and Aldridge in 15.

Dude! I haven't heard a single realistic blow it up scenario yet so I I don't think we should blow it up at all! I have been saying that all year.

I think Amare's injury is a bigger problem. I think we have to replace Amare and Chandler to actually compete with Miami so for now wait for them to expire.
