Why is does everyone keep saying that Othella + Dikembe adds up to so much in expiring salary? It really doesn't. They add up as $4.5 Million for Deke and $3.15 for Othella. That's a total of $7.65 Million. Antoine Walker makes $14.625 Million. You need another $7 million to make up the difference, and Kurt only makes $5.7 next year before you mention that. And one last thing: Why on EARTH would ANYONE want Antoine Walker? He sucks. He's the exact player the Knicks DO NOT need.

Also, a reply to the Stephen Jackson comment about is he playing for money. He could be playing for money. But he's also one guy who can pile up points quickly, shoot from the outside, drive, defend, and play against other athletes. Was he trying to cash in? Maybe. What else was he supposed to do in Atlanta with that team? Win it all? don't forget, they did beat some good teams in Atlanta and they were involved in the three highest-scoring games in the league this year. SJax is also someone who has WON a championship, grant with Tim Duncan, but SJax was their second leading scorer in the Finals. And he's got some attitude, which I think this team needs to forge an identity. He's well worth the mid-level, and he's one of the few players who will actually be available for the mid-level. The only sticking point will be whether he wants a guarantee to start, which obviously Isiah won't do with H20 hanging around (and he can't, Allan is a leader on this team and one of the Knicks few marketable players). But maybe Isiah can charm Stephen enough and anyone sane can realize that Allan isn't going to be fully healthy next year, and Tim will probably miss some games. So can we sell Stephen on starting about 40 games and maybe winning sixth man of the year on a playoff team? We shall see... Also, he's 25. Steph is 27. Nazr is 26. Tim is 27. Frank is 24. Sweets is 23. That's a great young core. If they could add a Drew Gooden or a Stromile, they'd have something.

I cant think of too many players that would walk away from a championship team knowing very well the following year would be anything but less. And maybe we have such a player that feels his contribution was so great during the championship run that his reward should've been a significant offer than the original offer. As the new GM, how do separate a player wanting to compete in a team enviornment vs wanting to get paid with a losing record....what are you promoting?

Stephen wanted to re-sign with the Spurs, but they low-balled him to the tune of $3 mil for three years and while he was waiting for a better offer they made that weird trade that gave the Kings Brad Miller and got the Spurs Hedo and Ron Mercer (?!?). So, as the free agent market was all but dry (this was in August, remember) Stephen went with the only team left that had money - Atlanta. Greg Popovich even admitted he felt bad about stringing Stephen along all summer, telling him they would raise their offer while working out that trade. It's not like Stephen ran away from that team, he just wanted to get paid what he was worth. Trust me, the Spurs will miss his outside shot when they actually meet up with a strong team in the playoffs (i.e. Indiana or Detroit or MAYBE Minnesota).

I really didn't think SJ was going to sign a big contract especially with TP making less and MG probably waiting to see his market value in comparison with SJ. If anything, a one year extension to prove last year drive was no fluke may have been the way to go. How could anyone deny back-to-back championships. Maybe Pop knew, and couldn't keep RM, I dont think Atlanta is going to let Stephen walk

Brigg's deal is a no brainer because the Knicks get the best player in the trade and if it does work out Francis (or Marbury) will have a huge trade value.

It does create a bad situation if Houston comes back relatively healthy. Francis and Marbury are both 40 minute a night players and Houston is untradeable.

i thought that there was only one ball in play during an nba game. did the rules change b/c surely we'll need at least two out there if francis and marbury are on the same team.

it's funny tho, i think the only team we can have the SLIGHTEST possibility of trading allan to is houston.
