The Knicks should start to target dumb teams like the Cavs who continually make these trades and shoot themselves in the foot for the long-term. I thought there was a good chance that if we hit the reset button already that we could've made another trade with miscellaneous assets to get their 2014 first round pick. Yet another missed opportunity.

The Kings 2014 pick is top 10 or 12 protected. The 2015 pick swap is something like top 14 protected. If you're going to trade picks, protect them. One of them turns into 2 second rounders if they are still protected after 2 seasons.

yes, the picks are heavily protected and one of them are the kings pick, not theirs.... if you are dealing picks, this is how it should be done...or in line with this..

Why go through all the trouble. It's a lot easier for Dolan to just trade lottery picks. Why go through all the effort of protecting them?

True, Dolan is a busy man- having to negotiate protection on picks would cut into his band rehearsal time

Again, this team gave up multiple picks to get blown out by a bad team like the Knicks. Like I said when this trade was made, it had an Eddy Curry feel to it. It'd be disastrous for the Cavs not to have lottery picks moving forward.

Tha Cavs pulled a classic Knicks trade which is to basically throw away first round picks for guys who arent bigtime players. Now deng is a good player dont get me wrong but i agree that was a lot to give up

In spite of all the awful **** we've done over the years, I still think the Cavs are run worse than we are. It's a petty to squabble over something like that but its one of the few thins we can take solace in: that we're not the worst in the league.

I re-read a few of the earlier posts though and guys pointed out that the picks involved in the deal are heavily protected. We'll see what happens with the picks but I don't see a smart team like the Bulls giving away a valuable asset with the reasonable expectation of high draft picks.
