The knicks need to be actively shopping him. i can't see a team that would want him in their team. He's an *******.

I don't hate him, not as a person anyway. This was meant to be more of a spoof. I agree with you though about needing to move him though. Maybe Portland would take him. Maybe an Indiana or Memphis. Whatever the market, it's certainly not bountiful.

For the record though, I never liked JR as a ball player but I began to change my opinion of him when he became a Knick. He was productive, albeit flawed, and showed a loyalty to the fanbase/franchise by signing contracts that were continually below his market value. Then last season happened and he played like a borderline all-star and was a major part in us becoming a real playoff contender. What's not to love about all of that? Once he got his guaranteed money though, it's like a switch went off and he reverted back to the same dude I couldn't stand. It may have all been a gimmick he was putting on until he could mail things in until he had another contract year to deal with. I hate looking stupid and it seems I was with J.R. (for changing my opinion of him).

JR reverted to that guy last season before he inked his deal. Failing a drug test for the third time, imploding in the playoffs, getting himself suspended, talking trash to Boston and not delivering, guaranteeing a win and not delivering. Its why I didn't want him to get a new deal. I had a feeling this would happen. As crush said, "no character".

You're right but I had been giving him the benefit of the doubt, since his play won me over. I was even defending him this year against dudes but enough is enough; my patience has worn thin. When we first signed him in 2011, all I wanted us to do was pump up his trade value to then sign and trade him (for someone like OJ Mayo). It seems my first inclination was the right way to go. Now, we might end up having to give up picks to move that contract of his (which I'd totally be against).

I hated JR as a player when he first got here, low bball IQ, imploded in the playoffs his first season here, but he was brought back for very little so it didn't bother me all that much. I was a big defender when he was having his great regular season, but I couldn't defend what he did in the playoffs, or his getting a new contract, even if he took a pay cut last season.

Its like paying someone to drive your Benz cross country to your new home, the guy gets there a day early, but crashes your car into the living room. Thanks for nothing.

We would probably have to take someone else's head case to move him, probably the only way to do it without giving up picks. I get the feeling that even Dolan is ready to move him. Chris smith being released might be the tell.

Yup, a leopard never changes his spots. Because of that, I never expected the dumb **** he does to go away completely, which is why I tolerated some of the stuff that went on last season and even this season. The difference between then and now is that the good was at the very least balancing out the bad. Now, it's all bad and he's been doing things on the court that reminded me of his Hornet days as a rookie, which got him permanently benched. I'm holding out hope against hope that someone would be willing to take him and cash for an expiring contract but I think he has developed too negative a reputation to fool anyone, now.

I'm also not so sure that the Knicks intended to keep Chris Smith. As much as having him around was a favor to JR, I knew his days were numbered once his deal became guaranteed. Whatever the case, I'm glad he's gone. I hated that smug attitude of his. I could at least understand it if he was any good but he wasn't even good enough to be a D-league player IMO.

I've hated this loser for a long time, even last year I never understood how people didn't see him for selfish ball hog he is. I'm sick of his no handle, no d, step back fadeaway game. And what's up with his weird free mason sign of the devil routine he does whenever he checks in the game?

Hates a strong word - but I certainly would be happy if he was playing some place else.

It is a strong word. Personally, I don't mean it in any other context than his game.

I wouldn't deal him now since his value at a all time LOW
Lets not forget, when JR is inspired to play, he was looking like a 8-12m per year player for much of last season
He is simply one of those players that you feel is completely talented at times and want to trade him for a bag of chips the other second, streaky/talented, trigger happy with good athleticism and decent ability to finish, but last season he really stepped up his game in terms of REBOUNDING, DEFENSE, PENETRATION, FACILITATING, and not just score as he has had in the past as the 6th man role

In took time for Lin to heal and to get back to NBA shape and maybe it will be the same for JR

Only difference is their "mentality", BB IQ, OFF COURT activities, mouth, and work ethic "inspired only by contracts which he will be auditioning for next season, as he will likely OPT out of his 3 year deal if he think he can get a better deal to prove himself

In the end, his contract is very cap friendly, for what he has done and proven LAST SEASON, but not justified by his play of this season
We simply are not being contenders with or without him, and we likely can get more for him NEXT SEASON if he decides to dedicate himself in the summer for his next contract
I don't think we should trade him for the sake of trading him and it is unlikely he would be an "ASSET" this year
Unless we get a deal that gives us picks for this coming draft or part of a bigger package that we have to consider, I think we are better off keeping him and hoping he turns things around next season....

I certainly don't hate him and I don't relate to those who do... But his play right now is pure crap as is his professionalism. He has no place on the team.

Bad signing like I said before the start of the season. You reward a player who partied the night before games an occasion dog it on the court really smart move boys.

Smith is what he is and he will make many mistakes but we need him to be the player that he was last season as 6th man of the year that showed the ability to be a starter

This season, whether it is injuries, lack of physical abilities from NBA shape, or mental approach, he is simply a different player
Which one is the real JR Smith and will he bounce back next season?
If he does bounce back, it would make more sense to me to keep him despite the headaches and drama with his off the court and little brother issues

I don't hate him, but he's annoyed me a lot over the past few months.

I was angry when I thought he was out partying before games in the playoffs, but maybe his performance was due to his knee. I didn't have a problem with him waiting until he signed his contract before having knee surgery (that's standard practice, and it's the smart thing to do). Heck, I also think it's fine he tried to look out for his brother (Knicks are the ones in the wrong for allowing it), and I get that he's going to look bad for a while because of his op and the fact he didn't get to practice over summer.

What I do get pissed off about is the refusing to shoot in a game out of spite. It's the tweeting 'betrayal' pick that could get us investigated and have our picks taken away. It's the lack of effort he seems to be putting in in practice. He just isn't locked in this year- maybe it's the losing, the loss of vets, the fact he's struggling, his knee, etc that's brought out his bad habits.

i am sorry but i was really upset and could not help myself. i'll try to be less dramatic next time i do a video.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Ok, where can I sign up. I really tired of him, and his foolish antics. The guys refuse to put the team first.

Tell me about it. I am no big fan of Dolan, but did JR really think that Dolan would sacrifice his business for either him or his brother. Be real. lol.

I don't hate him but I am ready to see him get shown the door just like his brother.

He was supposed to bring shooting and he can't even buy a basket. Sorry JR, the only betrayal here is your game after you inked the contract. The fans have seen enough.

How about a I hate Woodson club? This coksuker was seen yelling at Iman last night again. Iman. And he continued to play JR. He's a joke.

I told my gf when he put that Bargnani/StAT/JR linueup in the third us up by ten that we are gonna blow this lead. The whole night, I was pointing **** out and my gf asks me how come a drunk from the couch see these things and this coach can't?

The ****head was 3 for 18 or something, and we were on offense in the last (well, what was SUPPOSED TO BE LAST) possession..why wouldn't you play your best shooter in that scenario (Timmy) and bench this guy...for at least ONE FUCKING POSSESSION. Because JR washes his balls, probably.

Every team has dip**** players...but when a coach has this big a hard on for him, you can't blame the player any longer, because he is what he is, but he's on the floor and it's because of only one man.

So hear you on that bro, these days when I watch the games whenever JR is in the game I stop watching. Woodson is an idiot for playing Stat and Bargs at the same time anyway, because opponents attack the rim at will and inhales all the rebounds when these two are on the court together. JR must have some compromising pictures of Woodson, because there is no way he would be given the amount of time on the court by any other coach.

FIRE WOODSON!!!

How about some JR love...

@FisolaNYDN: Mike Woodson says J.R. Smith went "blank" when he took the ill-advised three vs. Houston
but added "did Beno have to throw him the ball?"
