I don't know if I agree... Derrick Rose is down and Kyrie Irving is pretty good. If I were a GM, I'd want a vet with a ring to give the younger guys direction.

Cap space? No we won't have cap space if we do this deal. Reducing payroll is not the same as getting cap space. I'd do the deal only if it's an unprotected pick that we're getting but I don't think cleveland would

If Cleveland would accept something like that you would have to take it. It is a no brainer for the Knicks. I can't see it happening though. The Knicks really need to shop him before he gets hurt again. It is inevitable. I know people respect his ring and understandably so, but his leadership is oversold IMO. As a Knick he has taken a lot of quick technicals, no showed 2 years in the playoffs and called others out when he was under producing (in the Indy series last year). Those things don't really demonstrate leadership. The longer they hold on the longer they risk having 2 monster contracts next yr for guys who can't take the floor (him and SHAT). If they can get something respectable now in a trade they should pull the trigger.

I would probably do that deal, but Cleveland has decent center depth. What they need is consistent scoring from the wings and Shump doesn't really help them much there. We'll probably have to throw THJ's name in there just to keep the convo going. It would be JR in a perfect world, but is Cleveland willing to go through that after dealing with Bynum? We're the Knicks, not the Lakers. Teams don't bend over backward to help us.

Good for the Lakers..... they are looking at this off season ever they can add a player to help them going forward.

The knicks need to be looking to do the same thing.

I would do it with top 7 protection---no team is trading for Chandler unprotected---top 7 protected is more than fair. We can either use Bynum or waive him and save the cash and potentially space next year.

Great move for the Lakers if they continue to tank and secure a pick they can use the amnesty on nash and be big players in the free agent market with a high pick.
