The only positive tonight is Melo didn't shoot 8 for 30 and we didn't get blown out by 40

They cannot play with Melo and cannot play without Melo.
Just a bunch of NBA players thrown together without plan and meaning.
Running around, pounding the ball, watching the clock of this season to run out, money in the bank, and go to the bitch.

Sorry, but if this team had any hope of finishing first, they win this game.

If they can trade Melo for something decent, they should and start the rebuild...

They look exactly the same with or without Melo- he isn't really the problem, but considering his pay check he should have more of an impact. With and without him we have stretches of ball movement, then it suddenly stops and we brick 3s and long 2's and don't bother driving too the basket. Endless switching because we are too lazy to stay with the player we're meant to be defending. We are just a boring, crappy team, full stop.

Typical knee-jerk thread. Where was this thread all of last year?

Unfortunately last year was an aberration. Do you think this current roster can play on that level? I say no way they can. Not happening. Our guards are horrendous on D, everyone else besides Chandler is bad on D, we can't rebound or protect the rim, and out offense is predicated on ISO's and long 2's. Basically, the worst possible way to try to score if you want to win the game.

Don't get me wrong I loved last season and hoped it would last into a run of a couple years of success, lord knows we deserved that as a fan base after suffering the previous 10 years of Layden, Dolan, and Isaiah induced pain. However, my eyes are now open and we will never be able to build around Melo for a litany of reasons which have been discussss as nauseum here. It sucks, but it's the reality.

I am in favor of trading Melo, but I don't see him as the main problem. To me, J.R. Smith and his gunning and ball stopping ways are a bigger issue. The team can take one gunner (Melo) but it cannot take two gunners.

If JR played like he played last night unt they decided to iso him in the 4th we would be alright. Problem is JR doesn't play that way consistently enough and like you said him and Melo is just too much

You can't be an aberration for 82 games of a season. Last yrs team was what they were. Felton, Smith, Shumpert have all regressed. Udrih, Bargs & Artest don't compliment the team as much as Kidd, Novak & Cope did. Kidd's skill set, IQ, leadership complimented the skill set of Felton, Smith, Shumpert. I was hoping Shumpert could step up and take over Kidd's role for the team in his own way, but I also new that was to much to ask.

But I do agree that they won't get back to that level. Going for a high pick in 2015 and cap space seems like the best way to go. But that's not how the Knicks operate.

We could've used Melo in the 4th last night but how many times have we force fed Melo under pressure in the 4th and lost this year?

We have no forwards who play big

The Knicks (9-20) were outrebounded 16-9 in the fourth and gave up six offensive rebounds, leading to four key second-chance baskets.

Bargs personifies everything thats wrong with this team- has the talent, but somehow is worse than he should be. Lazy, only occasionally shows up for games. Disappears for long stretches of games. Fails to do help defense. Switches at the drop of a hat. Brain-dead basketball IQ. Devoid of passion.

I think Bargs is a bigger part of the problem than people seem to think.

YOu are probably right. He missed a lot of time last season and then got pneumonia late summer/early fall so his conditioning might still be an issue.

Melo is doing too much. He is going to get hurt. I don't see him as having a conditioning issue. Beno came in out of shape and I think that might have kept him out of the rotation. Not sure if Felton started the year off in shape and has faltered because of injuries or if he came in out of shape.

It's not so much that our veterans have regressed as that they've naturally aged (and also become more injury prone). Shumpert is probably the only one you can say regressed. And losing Kidd, Novak, and Copeland and replacing them with lousy players hurt. 2012 was one of our best off-seasons in a long time despite losing Lin but 2013 was one of our worst.

LOL you are one sick hatin dude. Speak for yourself not for this forum. The game last night was brick city. If you enjoyed that then I feel sorry for you. They can't make shots, they can.t drive to the basket, they can't rebound. If Melo was in the game we would have won. Be real!! Just because you hate Melo stop spewing false remarks.
