Typical knee-jerk thread. Where was this thread all of last year?
Unfortunately last year was an aberration. Do you think this current roster can play on that level? I say no way they can. Not happening. Our guards are horrendous on D, everyone else besides Chandler is bad on D, we can't rebound or protect the rim, and out offense is predicated on ISO's and long 2's. Basically, the worst possible way to try to score if you want to win the game.
Don't get me wrong I loved last season and hoped it would last into a run of a couple years of success, lord knows we deserved that as a fan base after suffering the previous 10 years of Layden, Dolan, and Isaiah induced pain. However, my eyes are now open and we will never be able to build around Melo for a litany of reasons which have been discussss as nauseum here. It sucks, but it's the reality.
You can't be an aberration for 82 games of a season. Last yrs team was what they were. Felton, Smith, Shumpert have all regressed. Udrih, Bargs & Artest don't compliment the team as much as Kidd, Novak & Cope did. Kidd's skill set, IQ, leadership complimented the skill set of Felton, Smith, Shumpert. I was hoping Shumpert could step up and take over Kidd's role for the team in his own way, but I also new that was to much to ask.
But I do agree that they won't get back to that level. Going for a high pick in 2015 and cap space seems like the best way to go. But that's not how the Knicks operate.
