It makes no sense at all to look at some of the bad to average players in the draft and then call picks overrated... really? LOL.. come on, this is just a bad attempt to short sell picks since the knicks have none...

give me the picks, I will take my shot at Aldridge, durant, roy, Deng, David lee, iggy, wade etc.....

you see what happens when you try to trade for some of these guys? you end up fleecing your own team to end up with a carmelo anthony.. good luck with that..

give me the picks, I will roll the dice with getting a lebron, wade, aldridge, etc.. and if I don't, at least I won't be stuck with a 30 year old, selfish, ball chucking, aging, guy making 30 mil a year, or some soft, one dimensional, mental disaster euro player....

And since we are talking about the talent here, give me a rudy gay or zach randolph tealent with a head on their shoulders, any day!!!

What's even more hilarious is how professional scouts view the players that everyone is tanking for. This is why so many teams have been in rebuild mode for so many years. How many years is it now for Sacramento, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Toronto, Minnesota, Washington etc?

No, what is more hilarious is how we are built to WIN NOW

and

All those teams that you were just laughing at, have more wins than us, and we have had advanced once in the playoffs since Melo has been here
And some people have said they would do the trade every day of the week and twice on Sundays

Aldridge...the ONLY impact player from that 2006 class (lets see what Rondo can do when he gets back). I dont even think 70% of those players are still in the league!

I do see your boy M.Williams sitting at 22. I wonder what he's doing.

All those teams would have loved to win their division last season and win a playoff series. Most of them need that moderate success for their fan base and revenue. Yet they are still searching for answers and each year they look no closer. Sacrament wants to be a playoff team so bad they just traded for Gay. I bet they would love to win 54 games just once.

You want to talk about how much he lead Cuse to a national title in one try, had a scoring title last year, scored multiple 30 pt games with over 30 attempts each game???

we werent even competitive when we played Pacer's, we were NOWHERE on their level, but we won 54 games, on a water downed conference, it isn't a championship, oh please, just stop
talking about last year's "fake success" does not hide how much we still suck

funny thing is Houston still has all their draft picks, with a bunch of our 2nd rounders, Boston's 2nd rounders, Philly and Twolves 2nd rounders

Wait, if 1st round picks don't mean anything to you, all those 2nd round picks in additional to their own predicted HIGH 1st round picks cant do anything either
YOU ARE RETARDED

LOL

you think those teams would trade one 54 win season and getting owned in the playoffs to come back next year to be 7-16 , have no picks and the guy you gave up all your assets for to be talking free agency, to be where they are now? I doubt it my man..

Take a look at all the teams that owe 2nd round picks to Houston

Houston
2014 second round draft pick from New York
New York's 2014 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012]

2014 second round draft pick from Philadelphia
Philadelphia's 2014 2nd round pick to Houston protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Philadelphia's obligation to Houston will be extinguished) [Houston-Philadelphia, 7/13/2013]

2015 second round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
L.A. Clippers' 2015 2nd round pick to Houston (via Toronto) protected for selections 31-50 and 56-60 (if this pick falls within either of its protected ranges and is therefore not conveyed, then the L.A. Clippers' obligation to Houston will be extinguished) [L.A. Clippers-Toronto, 1/7/2009 and then Houston-Toronto, 7/28/2010]

2015 second round draft pick from New York
New York's 2015 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-New York, 7/11/2012]

2015 second round draft pick from Minnesota
Minnesota will convey the less favorable of its 2015 2nd round pick and Denver's 2015 2nd round pick to Houston (via Portland) [Denver-Minnesota-New York, 2/22/2011 and then Minnesota-Portland, 6/27/2011 and then Houston-Portland, 7/10/2013]

2017 second round draft pick from Portland
Portland's 2017 2nd round pick to Houston [Houston-Portland, 7/10/2013]

Outging
=====================
2014 second round draft pick to Philadelphia
Houston's 2014 2nd round pick to Philadelphia (via Milwaukee) [Houston-Milwaukee, 6/27/2012 and then Milwaukee-Philadelphia, 6/27/2013]

Houston currently owns ALL THEIR OWN 1st round picks, with Asik, Lin, as expirings next season,
Parsons, Beverely, Terrence Ross, and a couple other role players still in their rookie contracts

They have plenty of asset's and the ability to continue to improve with trades/cap space, MLE signings, and they got there by VALUING DRAFT PICKS and by signing/flipping talent for assets with where their are now, while we must pray to still get our 1st ALL STAR in stay in 2015 to build around

How will we ever build a team better than Houston within this decade is the question.......
Certainly not by paying Melo half the salary cap in order to keep him because we won't be able to have the players needed to build around him with vet min signings
Houston has their 2-3 pieces already in Harden, D12, Chandler Parsons, with assets and role players in Lin, Asik, Beverely, Terrence Jones, Greg Smith, Donatas Motiejunas, and plenty of vet min players that would be willing to go there at a discount

Oh, they still have 10 FA's in the next 4 years, that are DRAFT PICKS after just trading some for an ALL STAR that is already better than Melo and is younger....

According to you, they will be jealous of US, while they own 2 of our draft picks, one of which is predicted to be a high 2nd round picks in ours and Philly's this summer, and own ours again in 2015, when MELO WILL LIKELY LEAVE FOR NOTHING, and they will be jealous of us if they don't win their DIVISION but have a LEGIT chance in competing for a TITLE the next 5-6 years

Let me guess, you are the ear behind Isiah, and supporter of Dolan on how to trade, run, and manage a team
When all doesn't go well, deflect and go off on a security guard and dancers, and look back on the success of the past which was actually a FAILURE as we weren't even competing vs the Pacer's when it counted the MOST, the play offs

NO THE plan is to acquire as many assets as you can, so we can build a much better team, and out of that hopefully we develop a player much better than carmelo..

similar to the way the pacers did with paul George....

got it?

LOL. it is hilarous man, really. now we have no picks and fans are trying to downplay the picks... lets take a look at this.. how did carmelo anthony come into the NBA? wait he was drafted right.. and with what? a Pick... if the knicks love carmelo so much, hold onto your picks and then you can draft your own one dimensional chucker and save a lot of money and other assets in the process.. LOL

So the logic is to blow it up and trade Carmelo Anthony so we can draft our own new Carmelo Anthony? Ok got it lol.

NO THE plan is to acquire as many assets as you can, so we can build a much better team, and out of that hopefully we develop a player much better than carmelo..

similar to the way the pacers did with paul George....

got it?

I wonder if we would be lucky enough to do that, or end up like most other teams that are still trying to find that guy. Do you have faith that our front office will be lucky enough and skilled enough to find the next Paul George?

All got to where they are today because they did not value draft picks?
You got to be kidding me, let me guess Felton is still better than Lin too in your book?
Much better defender, a pit bull, and makes way much less money, way more value than Lin too huh.....

How do Lin and Felton tie into this thread at all? Why bait?

The same way 54 wins last season has NOTHING to do with this season
And the way you rationalize NOT HAVING PICKS and how it is a failure for teams that do value draft picks on HOW TO BUILD A TEAM....
YOUR MOTTO IS HOW TO STAY A LOSER

knicks have been titleless for 40+ years. so they havent done much right in any way. that doesnt mean since it hasnt worked out for the knicks or any other bottom feeder, the attempt shouldnt be made keeping picks. one common trait of crummy teams is crummy FO's. nfl, nhl, nba, mlb... you hire clowns, you get clown results.

it wont always work, however with the new cba, and rookie wage scales, the draft is an ideal chance. you get free chances each year unless you trade em, that has value. it isnt the 90s where you got stuck with a bloated lottery bust contract.

GO TEAM VENTURE!!!!!

The NBA isn't the NFL. For the most part all this excitement over draft picks masks the fact that only a very few teams have gone to a Finals, much less WON an NBA title. Sure some teams have built nice teams and they win a lot of games, but actually winning a chip is another thing altogether. It almost always follows a very specific formula. You have the leagues top players. You most likely Win a Title:

Year Champion Opponent Series Result MVP
2012-13 Miami Heat San Antonio Spurs 4-3 LeBron James, Miami
2011-12 Miami Heat Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1 LeBron James, Miami
2010-11 Dallas Mavericks Miami Heat 4-2 Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas
2009-10 L.A. Lakers Boston Celtics 4-3 Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles
2008-09 L.A. Lakers Orlando Magic 4-1 Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles
2007-08 Boston Celtics L.A. Lakers 4-2 Paul Pierce, Boston
2006-07 San Antonio Spurs Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0 Tony Parker, San Antonio
2005-06 Miami Heat Dallas Mavericks 4-2 Dwyane Wade, Miami
2004-05 San Antonio Spurs Detroit Pistons 4-3 Tim Duncan, San Antonio
2003-04 Detroit Pistons Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 Chauncey Billups, Detroit
2002-03 San Antonio Spurs New Jersey Nets 4-2 Tim Duncan, San Antonio
2001-02 Los Angeles Lakers New Jersey Nets 4-0 Shaquille O'Neal, Los Angeles
2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers Philadelphia 76ers 4-1 Shaquille O'Neal, Los Angeles
1999-00 Los Angeles Lakers Indiana Pacers 4-2 Shaquille O'Neal, Los Angeles
1998-99 San Antonio Spurs New York Knicks 4-1 Tim Duncan, San Antonio
1997-98 Chicago Bulls Utah Jazz 4-2 Michael Jordan, Chicago
1996-97 Chicago Bulls Utah Jazz 4-2 Michael Jordan, Chicago
1995-96 Chicago Bulls Seattle SuperSonics 4-2 Michael Jordan, Chicago
1994-95 Houston Rockets Orlando Magic 4-0 Hakeem Olajuwon, Houston
1993-94 Houston Rockets New York Knicks 4-3 Hakeem Olajuwon, Houston
1992-93 Chicago Bulls Phoenix Suns 4-2 Michael Jordan, Chicago
1991-92 Chicago Bulls Portland Trail Blazers 4-2 Michael Jordan, Chicago
1990-91 Chicago Bulls Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 Michael Jordan, Chicago

The exceptions on the list of MVP's are Pierce, Parker and Billups. Neither of them are what i'd call the best player in the league, Elite of the Elite types. The chances of landing one of those players is extremely small. Winning as a Dirk or Billups without a 2nd Elite player is even more rare but that's pretty much the only shot many teams have.

We can hate on this Knicks team but based on the odds of landing an Elite All Time Great, this wasn't a bad idea in principle to try winning with Melo, STAT and Tyson. The real issue is the plan and execution of the GM and Owner. The plan has to be a hit right in the bullseye. A team also needs great luck and health and that didn't happen for the Knicks.

LMFAO

All those teams would have loved to win their division last season and win a playoff series. Most of them need that moderate success for their fan base and revenue. Yet they are still searching for answers and each year they look no closer. Sacrament wants to be a playoff team so bad they just traded for Gay. I bet they would love to win 54 games just once.

and they would have loved to trade a half a team 60m in cap relief, and what looks to be a top 3 pick, a top 2nd rounder, 2 more picks, of which could still be high in 2016, along with all the useless 2nd round picks we sent out that are looking quite good now, all for a player to leave before the credit card statement comes for the bill

You want to talk about how much he lead Cuse to a national title in one try, had a scoring title last year, scored multiple 30 pt games with over 30 attempts each game???

Wait a second if the excuse is that our front office is too incompetent to build through picks how do you have faith that they'll build through trades and Free agency smartly? Sorry but if they are too stupid to draft smartly etc then they'll probably build a cluster**** by doing it the other way too. Right? Or do idiots all of a sudden become competent when their building the way NY builds? Every time I hear the "well mngment will F up the draft" excuse I have to just smh. Think about it for a second.
