So happy for the kid. Bullock (who I wanted over Hardaway JR) is getting DNP's and Hardaway is just playing great. Hopefully he comes around on Defense. I think he will once he fills out in a couple of years.

I hope, really hope, we can trade JR and bring in some more intelligent AND athletic players (preferably two way).
We just need a PG now. Tyson about to come back, I really think we turn things around here shortly.

tim can shoot, but how is he on d? i havent' seen anything too promising.

he doesnt' seem as emotional and sensitive as shump, so that's good.

It should be pretty easy. He can start with the double standards. Shump misses a rotation he gets yelled at benched. Melo or JR does that he says nothing and gives them near 40 minutes a game. He was the man who when he first got the job said he would hold EVERYONE accountable. The only people he held accountable are the lower tier players.

STAT has horrid D and plays as much as his body can take. Cope has horrid D and goes 10 games without seeing the floor. Look at the pacers series last year. STAT hurt the team and Cope helped but he put STAT in more than Cope. Shump goes 1 for 7 in the same game JR goes 3 for 17 and only Shump gets yelled at. This is what creates resentments in a locker room.

I agree, he's a legit NBA player. I bashed him a bit when we drafted him but I'll happily eat crow.

The thing is will he develop? The Knicks have not developed any players over the past few years. THe last one would be Lee. Shumpert is an incomplete at this time. hill?

right now he screams 6th man to me, nice role player off the bench until he diversifies his game a bit more...

I am not sure with how understanding his legacy will improve his game, it is not like his dad was MJ or magic...

do you not think that luke walton understood who his father was? not sure that is any reason to believe that THJ will be the player you want him to become...

Agree with the general point, but you'd have to add Gallo, Chandler and Nate in there too as players developed.

I know there were some who weren't that big on THJ, but he was more of a blue chip type prospect than Shump. Shump got attention with his combine performance. Teams were stunned by his physical talent. However, THJ was part of a winning team and had a prime role. He's VERY athletic, but for some reason people didn't give him credit for how fast he is, his vert is very respectable and his skills were there already coming out of college. The only real issue was he didn't have freakish long arms and his handle was great, tho not as bad as some said. He still has upside to his game.

The Barry kids I think all had their own identity and we're all content at who they were. Luke and his brothers knew they weren't that good. Ive never heard any of them say they wanted to be better than their dads or say he wanted to establish his own legacy. Tim talks about that and I think the dude is driven being tim hardaway jr. Patrick Ewing jr never spoke like that. He was on a different vibe when talking about his dad. He was more humble to what his dad did and wasn't really effected. Msg tried to give him a shot to play for his dad's team, but I think that's all he was content with. Just playing a role in the nba. Hardaway has the vibe that he wants to be more than that. Luke's Dad is a legend. Tim Hardaway isn't... LUke understood who his dad was and wanted to cut his own path... what you are saying really has no effect on how good a player is going to be.. either youi want to be good or not, has nothing to do with who your dad was. Every player I am sure wants to establish his own legacy... would you argue that they don't?

Bottom line is THJ has one skillset he excels at - his jumper - which means he should be anble to stick around the league for a while. maybe he isn't anything more than Martell Webster but I'll take Martell Webster on a rookie contract

exactly.. too early to tell what he will be for us, especially since so far, all he has shown is that he can shoot.. I want to see more...

The kid shows a good feel for the jumper. although I"ve seen some puzzling misses. Definitely hoping to see increased awareness on defense and losing that wind-up and Hallelujah thing e likes to do on somebody else's made 3.

Wish I could feel as optimistic about turning it around. If Woody used his brain, Murry would get some time to D up Wall tonight.

Actually two, finishing in transition. Also, there is a difference between a spot up shooter(Webster) and a guy who can spot up and run off multiple screens(Allen, Redick, Korver, & formerly JR). I think Redick would be a good guy to mold his game after. It took sometime with Redick but he became a better defender and I think THJr has more athletic tools to help him on D. Plus he seems to have some PnR capabilities which is good. He could develop into a secondary ball handler. However he seems to have a few gunner tendencies which is good and bad. It has decreased a bit but it surfaces at times. He is a rookie so that comes with the flor. Overall, he has a good base and has so far been a good pick up.

Would also like to see THJ develop a floater or better pull-up J. He has shown a decent first step, but he has difficulty finishing at the rim.
