Ok, They sit in those shadow box things hanging in effigy over my mantle! on my Mantle are the ashes of my beloved dog, hated grandfather and the hair free sliver of safeguard body soap taken in 1979 from the shower of Toby Knight! Nalod has watched two games thus far this season. My postcounts are down. Bandwagon rider? Hardly! Waiting for the nets to take the city? Who knows, But when they went to the finals, twice Nalod could have cared less then but I root NY first. Born in BKN im amused to have a team there. Better they win then Boston? Miami? Chitown? Milwaukee? Hell yeah! League pass unplugged for now and not too involved in the many threads offering from the faithful on how to fix the knicks. ABA memories are good childhood ones. From 1970 thru 1976 Knicks and Nets won 4 chips in 6 seasons. My teams won. JROD is envious he missed out. When you have time its fun to look back if you were a fan then.......http://www.remembertheaba.com/ |

Ask him about his Dr. J wristbands, it's a true panic button. Doesn't believe in labeling people. Has more copyrighted material on this site than anyone other than martin and Andrew. Nalod, as you can plainly see, is slightly delusional. "Envious", "ABA" and "chips" should never be used alone in the same sentence, referring one to the other as anything even remotely meaningful. (We go around and around on this topic of comparing a short-lived, comic relief, defunct semi-pro league with the real thing, and it usually loses steam somewhere around my inability to post images of the Pittsburgh Fish and Dallas Chapparals at the lightning quick response time Nalod performs at.) Nevertheless, he is the UltimateKnicks uncontested short storymaster. For obvious reasons. |

![]() Poor JROD was not in the building when the Nets came back from 23 pts to win the last game of the ABA.
USBL never put a team in the NFL. Back then the NBA championships were on Tape delay and the ABA was killing itself to survive. 6 teams could have easily made it in. The Kentucky team never made it and the ST louis team was very good. My delusion is filled with memories of a seperate NY team winning with the games most dynamic player. If you missed it, thats your loss. Missed George Gervin, David Thompson, Artis Gillmore, Mosess Malone and the good Docter. 1977 NBA all star game fielded 9 players from the ABA with David Thompson getting the most votes. 9 players out of 27 is ONE THIRD. In exibition games they played 155 games over the years with the ABA winning 79-76. Early on the NBA dominated but the last 5 years of the ABA they won a healthy Majority. See http://www.remembertheaba.com/ABAStatistics/ABANBAExhibitions.html to see what Nalod's delutions were actually factorial. No delusion, it was legit. In 1977 Denver was the 2 seed in the west behind Lakers. Portland the 3rd seed went on to win. Denver was not championship quality but they were in the mix. Larry Brown coached the All star game. DOnt' get me wrong, its not like the 73' knick team Between Knick and Net games I got to about 20 a year. I saw about 15 ABA games a year and they were a high quality league their last few years. They were also a more "fun" and less stuffy league. The NBA adopted much from them, including the 3 pt line!!!! The Ball, well thats a different story! It was a gimmick but one that worked. |
