Not sure where you got that nonsense from but for his career, he's averaged only 8 FGA and shot 46% from the field and 39.1% from beyond the arc. That is excellent for a perimeter player. Dude is good.

I'm actually not sure where I got the #s either since they're not right! His overall #s paint the picture of an average NBA player prior to this year though.

Shumpert figures to be that, so where is the foul?

Afflalo is the type of player I keep hoping that Shump and THJ develop into. His deal isn't that bad. He's signed through 2015-2016 at about $8 million per. He's got a player option at the end though, and will probably opt out if he has another big season.

Exactly. He does everything well but not on a star level. I much prefer to have him start to bring stability and balance to the lineup. Let's not also forget that the dude is a marksmen from deep (50% this season; 39% career), which is a weakness of ours. He also can run some point, which makes him ideal. I'm generally shocked to see the negative reaction he's getting considering what he's done and is doing.

Agreed, but the problem is every other team knows this, and so more young players are getting extended early.

Out of curiosity, when was the last time the Knicks signed a player who hadn't become established but had potential? Last one I can think of was Allan Houston, but I could be wrong.

LOL, Jeremy Lin.

Ha ha!

An big improvement on what we have then!

Sure, if it's just a Shump - Afflalo swap you have to do it. I assume we'll be giving up all our remaining picks in the 2020s though!

in a historic sense, I agree, he's nothing to write home about. Really good defender, pretty good offensive numbers.

But in a relative sense - how many young SGs are better than Afflalo? Considering the lack of young talent at the position, I think he becomes tremendously more desireable

Touche. I've been banking(/hoping) that the Shumpert's youth and "potential" are intriguing enough for them. That though, might just be the pipedreams of an optimistic Knick fan.

"dude is averaging 22ppg on 49% shooting and 50% shooting beyond 3"

Yes, he's having a career year and, yes, I probably underrate him and, yes, he's probably better than Felton and . . . no, I don't think Orlando will accept Shumpert in a trade. I do like Afflalo and I think he's better than Felton but I don't think he's a long term solution.

Except this one can play. I actually think that he's better than Bargnani and gives us a post player we desperately need. A bunch of people wanted us to us to sign Dejuan Blair this past offseason and we'd essentially be doing that with Davis but with much better production.

We haven't been looking for a long term solution since 2009. At least this makes us significantly better in the short term, without hurting us in the long term.

He seemed depressed before the season and warned that his foot may never fully recover- with the amount of weight, it's a big concern

He expires in 2015 and would be sharing platoon duties with Martin, Chandler, Stoudemire and Melo. He'd be alright; no harm, no foul.
