Since when does a Knicks head coach have any power like that anyway, besides Isiah? I am willing to bet none. Just remember, Woodson is a guy that gets followed around by a garden employee.

This is a deep organization issue, not a Woodson one.

why was JR lucky, he would have gotten that money else where regardless

This team has always had a soft heart for guys needing a little cheddar to get on their feet.

Chris Smith isn't the 1st example of bias hiring by James Dolan aka Isiah Thomas.

From Jamison Brewer to Chris Smith, he always has room for these type of NBA wannabe PLAYERS.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Unreal. The pivotal moment of NYC sports in the 21st century! I give you the Chris Smith signing, and his electric $490K!
We talkin' bout bench warmer? Bench warmer?

In other news, there are real games that have to be played that count. With players that will actually play in them.

A nice bit from a yahoo sports article:

Everyone wants to blame Creative Arts Agency for the packaging of the players, but Chris Smith, associated with a different agency two years ago, had been granted a guaranteed contract with the Knicks for the 2011-12 season. Only, Smith blew out his knee and received his $490,000 on the injured list. This was a stooge deal on New York's behalf, an embarrassment afforded a player, J.R. Smith, who doesn't deserve this kind of treatment.

"Glen Grunwald never wanted to do it, never felt right about it back then," one source with knowledge of the package deal said. "That call came from above him."

We all knew that was why he got fired. What I did not know was Charity Smith was going to be given a roster spot last season no matter what, that means no cope to help us make the playoffs. How did Charity Smith receive his money while not on the roster? wait did he sign a guaranteed contract during the training camp? no one said it was a guaranteed contract at the time.

I'm sure grunwald wanted to re-sign Lin as well, for all we know grunwald could have mutually agreed to take on a lesser role because he didn't have final say on his moves..

when you think about it, J. R is as much to blame for this as well..I tell you man, when you think about that signing as a whole, it's almost as embarrassing as Isiah in court on harassment charges..

They all but guaranteed jr a starting spot despite being injured through training camp

They bring on his worthless brother

He cost us big time in the playoffs

he gets suspended for drugs

All cause he took a slight pay cut, who's the franchise player on this team..
