At his age its also possible that he might not be able connect with a newer generation of professional ballplayers (see Larry Brown). Because of all of this, I think Stan Van Gundy might be a better bet. He maximized his roster in Orlando, which is similar to the personnel we have today. I don't know if Stan is a championship caliber coach though, which could defeat the purpose of pursuing him.

I think there are in house politics why some ex NBA head coaches don't HAVE JOBS NOW IN THE ASSOCIATION.

1.)If you have beef with the owner openly about personnel .... your gone
2.)If the best or highest paid player on the team dislike you ....your gone
3.)If you as a head coach only have expertise on one side of the ball and don't possess adequate assistants...... your gone.
4.)As a head coach and you don't play the business part of the game that the owners want to play...You will leave on your own when contract is up.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think this one applies to Woody, especially the assistants part. Jim Todd and Herb Williams ONLY? In today's game? I've been calling for new assistants since the beginning of last year. Who have I been calling to? No one I guess. Phantom Knicks Gods I suppose. LJ, Starks, and Mason are at every game, clearly involved with the organization. Put them behind the bench, give them a role, get them in practice, or get someone, anyone with some knowledge to come in and help this old staff out.
