Whats he daying?

Melo asked to be here and its wrong to insinuate you gonna shop?
Nets are deep and if healthy, if chemistry happens they have the guns to beat miami?
Have them ranked higher than knicks?

And y'all bent out of shape?

Its what happens on the court that counts. I don't find anything wrong with whats being said.

I agree. Melo is a great player and probably the best that we will see in the next 10 years or more. But thats not what the haters want. They want a player to play a certain way, their way and Melo does not play the way they want him to play. They will tell half truths about Melo's stats. And one of them I call The Sean Hanity of basketball against the Knicks.

While I agree with what they are saying they are not the most credible sources. Shaq is not an analyst, he is an entertainer, same with Barkley, they make people laugh, not come up with earth-shattering insights. Only one that consistently raises valid points is Kenny. Barkley, Shaquille, and Smith just said what we all have been saying. Now that the experts have spoken I hope people realize Melo isn't worth max contract. An inefficient player, with very limited passing ability. There is a reason why people don't want to play along side Melo. He can't play in any other system but this kind of system. He loves "Hero Ball" and probably the most content talented player in the league. Shaq said it best why do you always want to be mentioned after LeBron. Melo is the most content player I have ever seen this guy just doesn't want to get better at anything he is content with his fugazy scoring title 44% that isn't a superstar.

What Barkley, Shaq and Smith said is a wake up call to Melo fans and to Melo. I'm a fan of Melo who thinks he has it in him to be the best player in the league, if he doesn't up his FG% he can never be considered in the conversation with the best scoring title or not. Take less shots get teammates involved increase the assist level. Win your teammates keep them in the flow of the game fight the Hero Ball approach become a willing passer. These are the thing great players do.

How do u know all this...How do u know he can't lead u to tiltes????...Has he ever had the pieces around him to make that determination???..Every player who is the main player on a team need not be the play maker...He needs to play with a bigger star???.The only guy who is a better scorer is Durant and Bron is flat out better..So he needs to play with Bron or Durant??...Does this make sense??

First of all, I just said I usually agree with Kenny, especially with his suggestion that Melo try to make a decision with the ball within 4 seconds.

You just seriously called a dude that screams "birdmam! birdman!" at the top of his lungs every 5 seconds an expert. Chew on that. I watch their TNT late night segment frequently because it's funny, not because of the quality of opinions. You can't get serious basketball analysis from that crew anymore than you could get all your news from the Colbert Report taking everything at face value. It's an entertainment segment that deals with basketball, not a basketball program with the primary purpose to educate and a secondary purpose to entertain.

On the eve of the regular-season opener, TNT's popular "Inside the NBA" analysts visited New York Monday and offered several pieces of pointed advice for the city's most prominent basketball citizen.

Read further at your own risk, Carmelo Anthony.

It began with Shaquille O'Neal suggesting the Knicks star "stop being satisfied with being mentioned after LeBron [James]. Him and LeBron are similar players, in my opinion. They're both strong, they're both physical, but it seems to me at times that he's satisfied with being mentioned behind LeBron."

Speaking at a luncheon to promote the new season -- and the show's visit to Flatiron Plaza in Manhattan Tuesday night -- O'Neal added, "If Carmelo wants to get past Miami, he needs to do more."

Then Kenny Smith chimed in by saying that though he "loves" Anthony and his game, he needs to evolve into the sort of star other players want to play with.

"That is what's missing, I think, from the Knicks and I think what's missing from Carmelo," Smith said. "It's the law of attraction. There aren't a lot of guys saying they want to come to New York and play here with this guy."

So, Charles Barkley, how might Anthony become the sort of player who attracts others? "Play a little defense and get a rebound every now and then," he said. "Pass the ball."

Later, he added that though he considers Anthony "the best offensive player in the NBA," that is not enough. "Guys don't want to play with a guy who doesn't pass the ball," he said.

I have been saying that all along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, the Knicks being this big attraction for players is overblown with or without Melo. You can say no one wants to come play with him but not many stars wanted to come here without him either. It took us giving Amare a contract no one else would have to get something out of that 2010 free agency.

Oh I agree, In the internet age, you can be a star almost anywhere, and most players don't want to play in this pressure cooker called NY... But people sold this crap that carmelo would help attract other stars.. I called that BS from the very start..

Barkley knows basketball, Shaq know it to. You guys are trying to fault them for what they said but they are telling the truth they are privy to a lot more insider knowledge than most reporters. A lot of people hate it when they hate on the Knicks, but they are not looking at the Knicks with fan eyes they are looking at them objectively.

I bet if all three gave glowing reports of carmelo and the knicks, they could stand there on TV in donald duck boxers, wearing micky mouse ears, hollering " WEST SIIIIIIDE", while holding up DUbs... and every NY fan would hold them as not only entertaining, but highly credible...

Shaq is not an analyst, he is an entertainer, same with Barkley, they make people laugh, not come up with earth-shattering insights. Only one that consistently raises valid points is Kenny. It's funny how one quote from a clown like Barkley agreeing with them can send some into pure ecstasy...like your whole life has new meaning now or something.

it's possible to be insightful and informative while also being funny. i think all three are very very smart and i learn stuff. same with chris webber.

i don't get sent into ecstasy having the deepest concerns for the knicks utterly confirmed.

ecstasy for me would come from the knicks putting a winning team on the floor for once.

list for me the paid experts who endorse your point of view why don't you?

Yes, of course, Charles Barkely, objective Knicks analyst. You are too funny.

These are the thing great players do.

what I didn't like about what shaq said is that he basically implied that carmelo and lebron are pretty much equal players... I am like, come on shaq.. I like him, but some silly stuff comes from this man at times.. LOL

Kenny and Barkley were right on point, but why must guys profess their love for someone before they give them sharp criticism? " I love carmelo" but.. rofl.. just tell it like you feel.. stop prefacing things with " I love his game, I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him... ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think what Shaq was probably saying is Melo is very talented and he should be right up their with LeBron but Melo is content with his game he should use LeBron to push himself to a higher level of play. Similar to The way Bird and Magic went at it.

But shaq should know better, he can look at the skills both posess and know that carmelo isn't on that level.. I understand that he is saying carmelo should not settle for being second best, but I don't think he is, it is what it is.. carmelo is behind lebron and I even think he realizes it as a fact deep down.... now that should never stop you from competing like you are the best, but shaq seems to implicate that if carmelo just changes his mindset he is right up there with lebron and to me, that is flat out wrong and ridiculous..

Because players today and those that recently retired are like a family or fraternity.

These analyst spend time with these players, so they can't just trash them for something they are doing wrong. Hard to trash a member of your family without showing them some love too.

Barkley is at times ignorant and he likes for people to laugh at him for what he say's.

So take it for what it's worth, family always show you love 1st, it's the intelligent thing to do.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
